Re: Pet Names?

We adopted our dog when he was 2, and he already had the name Buck, so we kept it.
But he rarely gets called Buck. More like... Bucky, Buckaroo, Bucky Boy, Bucky Boo Bear, Buckster, etc. Yes, my husband and I are THOSE crazy dog parents, lol.
I have two cats named Prowler and Target. Prowler because he followed me around all the time when we got him and Target because he has a huge target on both sides.
On a side note I hate when people name their pets Ginger bc it's my first name and everytime I say my name people always go, "Oh I have a dog named Ginger."
HAHAH we do the same thing we hardly every call him norton...I'd be surprised if he knew his name was norton! HAHA
Fluffy is an almost 9y/o GSD mix. He's named after Fluffy, the 3 headed guard dog in Harry Potter #1. Little did I know that my Fluffy would grow up into a crabby guard dog, just like the first Fluffy. Lily is an 8y/o Golden mix. She's named after Lily Potter, Harry's mother. And yes, I am a geek!
DH had a parakeet named Carla. He soon added a companion named Carson (as in Palmer). Carla & Carson went to live with Dave's parents when we got married (Lily was a little too interested in the birdies). Carla went to birdie heaven & Carson seemed lonely so DH got a new parakeet companion for him. That bird quickly went to birdie heaven as well & Carson is now living the life of a happy bachelor. I'm not even sure if birdie #2 ever got a name.
We didn't name her, she came with it. So it was just easier to keep it.

We have an almost 4 year old Cocker Spaniel name Emmett. My husband (boyfriend at the time) picked the name, because I got to pick the dog. It was the deal I made with him to keep him from pouting. He liked how it sounded and it actually really worked for our dog.
Most of the time though, we call him Emm, Fuzzy Butt, Stink Butt, Woof or Sir.
We have a 3lb toy poodle name Sophie(She's 8yrs old). I had her before meeting my DH, and named her Sophia b/c I liked the name. Although we call her...Sophie, Poods, Poodie, So-fia, etc.
We also have a yellow lab/golden mix, name Keller (he's about 4yrs old). We rescued him, and didnt want to give him yet another name, so Keller it was. However we also call him..Keller, Kel, Kells Bells, Labbie, Bubba, Bubbie, etc.
Katie and Daves_sweetheart it's no biggie that you/ your family have a dog named Ginger it's just a pet peeve of mine. I totally get why people name animals that.
We had a Freckles, because he had freckles (or as I called them "dog dots" when I was little)
Brandy Alexander (apricot poodle) because he was the color of the drink.
Scamp (red poodle) because she would hide things and unravel the toilet paper roll.
Roxy!
She's a 3-year old mutt we got at 8 weeks from the Humane Society. No clever backstory. Just liked the name. She gets called "Fuzz" a lot and also "Roxy-Girl".
My Golden Retriever's name is Ashley. My ex was a big UK fan so she's named after Ashley Judd.
My oldest cat is a Siberian so I named her Alexandra but call her Allie. The other 2 cats are Libby and Toby and are mother and son. I don't really remember how I came up with their names but i wanted to keep the ie/y ending going.
Our lab/? mix is Cracker Jack or Jack/Jackeroo. I really don't know why except that it suited him. I remember there being some discussion that his coloring reminded me of a saltine cracker, except that he was snow white when we got him. He grew into his 'saltine' colored spots and now looks like the dog on the Cracker Jack box.
Our GS mix is another Ginger - full name: Ginger Snap aka G-Dog, Whirly-Girl. It went with Cracker Jack and her coloring was very gingerbread with the normal GS patterns in it. It seems to suit her.
Funny thing is that all of our dogs seem to end up named after ex's. My first dog we called 'D' all the time - named that before I met my H. And he had an ex named 'D'. Then we named Jack & it didn't even dawn on me but I had an ex named 'Jack'. So finally we get Ginger and I say 'Well, at least this one won't be named after an ex' - and H says 'Actually, the first girl I ever kissed was named Ginger'.
Our beagle is named Toby...because I liked the name and he seemed like a Toby to me
. His temporary family (he was a lost dog) had named him Richard so his "formal" name when we joke around is Tobias Richard <<Our Last Name>>. We also call him Tobester and Fur Face sometimes

Latest Blog Update: Peanut Butter Cookie with Salted Peanut Caramel
Fun post We have a Weimaraner named Nova because she has sky colorings. She's always acting up so she probably thinks her name is "No Nova". She's also Nova Bova, Bovadeer, Pooper, Miss Priss.
Also a German Shepherd named Sascha. We wanted a German name for her, but didn't like the sound of many of them. Sascha means "brave protector", which are our goals for her. Her nicknames are monkey and pig pen.
Our dog is Tera, as in terabyte...my husband is a computer engineer. I love her name.
We got her when she was 9 months old, and she had a number and no name.
She was found as a stray for an extended period of time, so I'm sure she had a name at some point in her life, but nobody knows what it was.
I'll play - I have a 7 yr old toy fox terrier named Odie. He has giant ears so originally Odie was a play off a spanish word meaning to hear. But our dog also looks exactly like the dog Odie from Garfield (big ears, one big spot on his back) so it works either way
my blog
My dogs are Murray and Mia.
They are both mutts.
My dog is named Comet and the owners that had him prior to us named him after the reindeer Comet. There kids got him in November as an early Christmas present.
