Has anyone been to Fresh Market?

I went to opening morning, and it was a little insane.  I didn't get to really shop because I was tripping over news crews and the lines were dozens of people long.

It looks like a nice place.  It makes me miss Long Island because those stores are a dime a dozen down there, I don't know why businesses avoid Albany, like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.  I'm not a fan of the health food stores around here so I hope this trend catches on.

Just curious if anyone did any decent shopping, find anything cool, and how are the prices?  I wonder when I can go there and it won't be packed..

Re: Has anyone been to Fresh Market?

  • I know a few people that went and said they loved it.  As with anything new, everyone goes the first couple weeks and then the newness dies down and it isn't packed.  I bet the Cici's on Wolf road isn't packed anymore.  Give it a couple of weeks and then check it out - or go at a time when it's less likely to be packed.
  • Trying to figure out when it wouldn't be packed...?  Aside from weekends, evenings, or lunch hour?
  • I've not been there yet. I loathe big crowds when something is new. However several friends have gone and said it's not really fabulous. Lots of conventional foods which was very disappointing to them. I'll check it out next week for myself before making a judgment.

  • I haven't been to this one yet, but have been to one in KY. The baked goods are so good - I could have walked out with a little of everything the day I went. I'm hoping they're just as good here. My dad went today and said that although it was busy, you could walk around and shop. He said the prices were a little higher than the grocery stores, but the quality seemed better, so that seems to make up for it in my eyes.

  • I have been twice now. Opening day and this morning. I don't mind the crowds, and quite frankly, i think it is going to be packed for quite some time. It is something that was way overdue in this area and the prices are very comparable to Price Chopper and Hannaford. So i can see at its location how plenty of people will be shopping there now! We are definitely switching over.

I love that everything is fresh, whole foods and for me, great service matters too and so far, even in hectic times as a new store, everyone has been awesome!

  • Been there, and wasn't all that impressed. It reminded me a bit of Wegmann's with all of the prepared foods, etc. The produce and meat sections were very good however.
