What's your...

#1 "want" in your dream house?

A big yard? A big master bedroom? A 2 door garage? A beautiful kitchen? A walk-in closet?

Re: What's your...

  • A gorgeous master bathroom, with a large sunken bathtub. #2 want would be a bigger kitchen with more cabinet space. We are several years out from being financially ready to buy a house though, so for now, those really are just a dream. ;)
  • We moved into our "dream-for-now" house last year. My favourite part is my kitchen, I love the counter space SO much. We just bought new furniture on Friday, so I can't wait for it all to arrive, and feel like it really is our HOME. Here's most of the kitchen:

  • A great room with a wood burning fireplace.  And one in which I can arrange furniture.  In our current home, DH moved in before me.  He put the fish tank (that probably weighs a ton) where I would put the couch.

A craft room where I can spread out all my stuff and close the door when I'm done (and not clean up first).

  • A giant walk in closet. I mean huge....like the one in SATC2....or bigger.

    A fire place.

    A porch would be cool.

  • Great question!!

We won't have our dream house for a long time, but #1 on my list is a big kitchen with lots of counter and cabinet space. #2 is a big yard with a big deck for grilling out. We love to have football parties in the fall so it's a must!

  • I think #1 for our future home would be an amazing kitchen. I feel like that's the center of a home and where we'd hang out together a lot, especially when we have kids, so I want it to be big and warm if that makes sense. And #2 would be a kickass master bedroom/bathroom combo. :-)
  • Kitchen I love to cook! With great appliances and lots of space. I want an island for people to sit at so i can serve them  little appetizers of cheese, fruit and salami while i make dinner.

I've played it through my head a couple times. HAHA i'm being serious too. My parents used to entertain a lot when I was younger and I loved everyone at our house. I love it now. if you come over I'll always ask if you want me to make you anything.

  • a big kitchen and/or pantry closet (big one). i dont have nearly enough storage space in mine now....and thats BEFORE all the kitchen-related wedding presents! they're still all in boxes! eep!

also, id really like normal height ceilings. im sick of my 7-7.5 foot ceilings. stupid old house.

  • A beautiful kitchen is a must! Lots of counter/cabinet space, gas stove, stainless steel appliances....

Next is a back deck or patio and I'd love to have a farmer's porch that I could just sit on and relax.

Also on the list is a walk-in closet and a good sized ensuite master bath - double sinks and a separate tub and shower!

  • I think mine would be a tie between a nice, big yard and a big dining room.  Our current house has an okay sized yard.  It's at least big enough to play some lawn games.  Our dining room however is quite small.  We like to have people over for card games and such but the room can really only fit 4 comfortably.  Not to mention, it would be hard to ever have a dinner party there!

  • I am in the kitchen group, definitely.

We are in the process of moving (we started this past weekend), so I love this post!  The house needs a cleaning and yard work before we totally move everything in, and we're getting there... Unfortunately we won't be totally done moving in until about a week after we get back from our HM (September 18th is our final move all the big furniture date).  Luckily we don't have to be out of our apt until September 29th.

We have a pretty big kitchen in the house, and aside from not having an island, it's really got a lot to offer size and space-wise!  Unfortunately, it needs a lot of updating.  The appliances are all pretty old, and the counter tops are old (just plain white, I don't even know what the material is called).  If we had enough money, I'd love to re-do the entire kitchen.

Also major pluses in a dream house- all hardwood floors (on the main level and upstairs... possibly nice Berber carpet in the basement) and a fire place.

  • Hmmmm... this is hard one because I don't think we have just 1 must have for our dream home..

1 - Land.  DH is a hunter (I always say theres an open season for every season w/ him).  So we have to have some land  - woods and room for our dogs to run.

2 - Kitchen (this is just as important as # 1) DH & I love to entertain & cook so a kitchen that can allow us to do so is a must.

3 - and this is one is actually the most important  - LOVE.  We want our house to be filled with love.  and I know that you can't "find" this when looking for a house.  But it wouldn?t be our dream house if it wasn?t filled with LOVE!!  (so cheesey I know, sorry! lol)

  • I love all these answers.  I definitely have a lot of similar wants, but one of mine is a decent laundry room.  I want shelves, a sink and a sufface to fold the clothes on.  We did update our laundry room last year, but it's still super small with a cement floor and no where to put anything.

  • Nice big kitchen (my husband insists that it have an island), yard, deck and and a front porch.

For now, I'll have to settle for the biggest kitchen I've ever had and a washer and dryer.

  • Well, for me, my dream house would have an amazing kitchen.  Granite countertops, lots of cabinets, a pantry, and a layout that allows for lots of people to hang out while you cook.

If you asked DH, he would say a big garage with storage and work space and a stocked workshop so that he could work on cars and bikes!

  • I don't really want to live in a big home at all. I hate cleaning :p

I'd love a really great washer/dryer though, and just generally nice appliances everywhere. And I want gorgeous landscaping and an in-ground pool if we live in a warmer climate.
