Aerorea - you doing DragonCon this year?

Our 19 yo niece is flying down from CT with her friends and going for the whole time. DH and I are going up to see her and check out DC for a least one day, but probably not staying in a hotel, or for one night at the most. I'm going to talk to her and see when she wants to hang out out with us; I'm sure she wants her friends-only time too.Embarrassed

I called them about tickets, and it seems that if you're not staying the whole time, you gotta buy your tickets at the door. Would that be at the Sheraton? I saw on the website it's sold out, but that's OK I guess.

If you're going, let me know what days and maybe you and I can meet up!

  • ::butting in::

    I'm going to DragonCon too. :)

  • Yep, we're going all 4 days - 5 actually, since we're taking off Thursday to "chill" too. We always stay at the Hilton because it's a little quieter.

    Pre-registration tickets are no longer available. To get any sort of ticket now, you have to get it at the Sheraton. Warning - the line is ridiculously long. Seriously. I mean as in "OMG, *that's* the line?" long. Get there as early as you can. Saturday is the worst day, Sunday is better for the crowds. If you want to stay at a hotel, check the website and see if one of the satellite hotels has a room. It'd be better to have it ahead of time. Saturday night is the best night to hang out and take pics of all the costumes in the Marriott/Hyatt.

    Tip: If you think you might want to go next year at all, find one of the Dragon*Con store booths (Sheraton and Marriott) and pre-reg for next year for a full weekend pass for a lot less. Last year it was $50, so it should be that or maybe $60 this year. It's the way to go though. You can transfer them to someone else later if need be for a $20 fee (typically, you let the buyer handle that).

    We should definitely plan to meet up while you're there! I'll send you an email w/ my phone #. If you have any questions about stuff, feel free to call before the Con too.

  • I'm going it's my first year! I'm excited. It's a quick walk from my home so it will be fun. :)
  • Oooh, lots of Con virgins! Muwahaha! Seriously though, you will see things you've never seen before (and never want to see again in some cases!). There are tons of interesting costumes (or lack there of). It definitely isn't for the easily offended.

    Virgins? I feel like I'm going to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show LOL.
