Do you remember these...

...scratch and sniff stickers? Or am I just old? (fingers crossed that the picture shows and turns out normal size - otherwise, pip lessons are welcome)

MH and I were joking the other night and I told him if we met when we were younger, like penpals, then I totally would have sent him lots of letters with stickers including the scratch and sniff ones, puffy ones and the glitter ones. He looked at me like I was a nutcase and had no concept of scratch-and-sniff. I remember these were so special when the teacher put one of these on our papers.

Please tell me it's not just me. Or just call me a freaky weirdo kid that loved stickers.

Re: Do you remember these...

  • Oh my GAWWWWD yes! I was one of those kids with a sticker book, and one of my favorite pages was the one of scratch-n-sniff stickers that I'd collected. Another favorite was the one with glittery unicorns, but that's a whole other post. Wink

Side note - WTF does the roller skate (top row, second from the right) smell like? Old feet? Same question for the cowboy boot, football, motorcycle, shoe, dino-mite, robot and whatever the hell that thing on the bottom left is. Oh and the skunk!

  • I totally remember scratch-n-sniff...i loved those! I still sorta get excited when I see them in magazines today when they advertise products!

  • Wow...what a flashback!!! So loooved stickers back in the day. All of them were loaded into huge photo albums that had those glue type pages and then we would have trades.  My favourite smelly ones were the banana and the rootbeer, but all time favourites were the puffy ones with either the googley eyes or the Smurfs. Oddly enough the other day I was at Toys R Us and totally threw me for a loop when I saw whole section of Smurfs. I guess it is alot like fashion, where many things make a comeback!
  • Ab-so-lutely!  I didn't have one sticker book but several :)  I loved trading too!  So much fun, good memories... something leads me to think that "kids" nowadays (gosh, that makes me feel really old :P) don't collect stickers like some of us did.

  • Yes, yes, YES!  Scratch-n-sniff stickers, WOW, great memories.  I too had a sticker collection.  Several sticker albums worth.  I would spend hours looking at them and organizing them.  I can't wait to tell my mom about this thread, she will laugh.  I was a little sticker whore!
  • YES!!!  I loves my sticker collection!  I loved popcorn and pizza....mmmmm.....

Kriss I loved the puffy, googly-eyed ones too!  AND the Smurfs!

  • Heck yeah I remember scratch and sniff stickers.  They were the best!  Like the PP, I had a sticker book.  If I do say so myself, my sticker book was AWESOME.  Any remember Lisa Frank's bright, colorful stickers?  (or anything Lisa Frank for that matter - i.e. beautiful folders and sweet trappers)
  • They don't have these anymore?!?  How sad for the next generation!  I was a sticker collector too, and I'm pretty sure I still have my sticker book at my parent's house somewhere.  I loved the fuzzy ones...especially the Hello Kitty ones!

I was never a fan of Lisa Frank, but I loooooved getting a new Trapper Keeper each school year!

  • I always wanted Lisa Frank stuff but my mom said it was overpriced and would fall apart too fast...so generic brand bulk school supplies from Costco it was... Crying
  • i totally remember those!!!!!!!!!!!  I can even smell them now!!

i was never a lisa franck girl - too pink and sparkly for me - but i loved scratch n sniff, and the cutesy ones - teddy bears, etc.

  • I am soooo glad to see that I wasn't the only one that was sticker crazy. I wish I had saved some of those sticker books. I know I spents hours and hours on them. I remember being so careful trimming all the edges. Buying stickers was even better - picking the right ones and tearing right at the perforated lines. Then the show and tell with my BFF and trading!! Gahh - that seems like ages ago.

And redshoegirl - I loved unicorns!! I wanted one .. or a pegasus! Stick out tongue

Oh, if only I could organize my life in pretty pink sparkly folders in a trapper keeper now!!!  :P

Sadly, I was always the weird kid whose favorite smelly stickers were the gasoline and the skunk ones!  Even now, some of my favorite smells are gasoline and skunk (as long as it's only a faint whiff of skunk...not too strong).  Now, if only they made a bleach smelling sticker (my fav smell of all time)!  I know, I know......I'm a weirdo!

HAHAHAHAHA This is awesome!  Gasoline, skunk and bleach!

And I agree - if only things were so simple.  Perhaps if I had pretty folders or trappers I'd be happier to open them up and find what work I have to accomplish inside of it.

Pfft, amateur. I wanted a unicorn pegasus - a unicorn with wings (or a pegasus with a horn lol). Big Smile

I had it all planned out - he was going to be named after this pegasus in a book I loved...I think his name was Golden Silverrod, or Silver Goldenrod or something like that?

  • Oh and Snarling Fox, YES - tearing right at the perforated lines was ESSENTIAL! I got all sad if my sticker sheet had a little tear in it lol. Stick out tongue

I also loved the Hello Kitty ones! And the whole Sanrio collection...I had Kerokerokeroppi, Pochacco, and Little Twin Stars...

    I loved Sandylion stickers too.

I had several albums and I still have them in the basement of our house =P
