*whimper* Now that the wedding is over....

What did you (or will you) do with your dress?

I know some of you did TTD.

I couldnt' do that, it was to freaking pretty. So I just paid $125 to have it cleaned and shoved into a bag that my comforter used to live in because I couldn't afford the $250 to clean and box it up.....grrr. Was the wedding not expensive enough?

My mom said sell it. But not to sound like I'm five, but IT'S MINE! But really, what am I going to do with it? My mom's is up in the attic of their house in a box. Their 25th anniversary is in October. >.<

Re: *whimper* Now that the wedding is over....

  • We had mine cleaned and put in the box with the window thing on it along with my veil. I LOVE TTD sessions but I would die if I did that to mine, I would be heart broken if I totally destroyed it.
  • Mine is in my parent's guest bathtub, waiting to get the money to do the same.  At least I know that the prices at my cleaners aren't outrageous, because they're the exact same as yours.

I actually wore my mom's wedding dress to a photo-shoot when I was younger, so that was kinda cool.  I'm going to put the dress babygirl wore in a large shadow box with a picture of her from the wedding day.  I care more about her $35 dress then my own!!

  • I'm not sure what I'll be doing with mine. We are doing a photo shoot in the next month or so, I don't know how much I will trash the dress, but I was thinking of selling it after. Although, I really love looking at it peeking out from behind our bedroom door every day. :(
  • My dress is still hanging in the guest room waiting to be cleaned  But I was thinking of either selling or donating it to Brides Against Breast Cancer.  I just don't have the space to keep it.

  • i'm thinking of making mine into a cocktail dress. maybe dying it a navy color. Not sure yet.

  • Mine is sitting on a chair at my parents house (our wedding was in my hometown). I think I want it cleaned and preserved, but haven't done too much looking in to it yet.

When I first bought it, I was sure I'd sell or donate it after the wedding, but now I just don't want to get rid of it. Lol.

  • Mine is hanging in a closet at my parents house. I would love to do a Rock the Dress session - but I don't know when we'd do that. I'll have the dress cleaned and preserved at some point. I don't know that I could ever part with my dress!

  • A few people have already tried to push me to donate it, as much as I would love too for others, I still remember trying my aunts on when I was a kid and playing wedding. I've always been into weddings haha so I'm def keeping mine to show my daughter at least...I need to get it cleaned I was running around the beach with my train cuz we didn't have time to bustle me.

After 30 years keeping hers my mom sold hers at a yard sale 2 weekends ago for 2.00 how sad is that....she was ok with it and I was ill over that...

  • I'm going to clean and preserve it.  Chances are, it will just stay up in the attic for years and years but I don't know if I could bare to sell it or donate it.  I'm afraid that I would end up regretting it!!
