  • I just bought one of last year's models at Babies R Us, marked down $20, plus a 20% off coupon.
  • For some reason I didn't see the Marsthon 70, but maybe I just missed it.

  • i am going back and forth between the Boulevard and the Marathon. And then I wonder whether the 5 pound difference from this years models is a big deal? And then I wonder how important or useful the click and safe (CS) is?

    i hate research

  • I think besIdes the 5 lb increase on the new models the big difference is the epp foam was added throughout all seats along with better head protection.

  • I think these can rear face longer, which is important to me. And since kids have to stay in seats or a booster longer, the extra lbs can be helpful I suppose.

The biggest factor for me is if Owen stays at the top of the growth charts I want the extra length for rear facing that the Boulevard provides, but I don't know if it will be too big for our car (make it hard to put the passenger seat back when it's rear facing) because the Roundabout already took up a good bit of room when it was rear facing for Maggie.

  • thanks for your reason kristen. we have SUVs so I assume we might be ok for bigger size

It's strange, F has an Acura MDX, which is bigger than my Honda CRV, and because of the way the backseats are configured the car seats fit much better in my car than they do in his.

  • We need to go check these out in store.  We have a small sedan so I'm definitely concerned about fit rear facing, especially since we want to keep her in the center.

Kristen, do you know which 65 model is the smallest -- Advocate, Boulevard, or Marathon?   The Roundabout goes up to 50/55?

  • Lindsay if I'm not mistaken the Boulevard and Marathon are the same size, not sure about the Advocate.  And the new model of the Roundabout goes up to 55 lbs.

Here's a comparison of the seats

  • That's correct, but I recall reading somewhere that one is a little more compact in a car than the other. I will see if I can find that info. It all depends on the angle it creates when rear facing.

  • I've checked this out:  http://www.carseatdata.org/

but they don't have the exact make/model/year of our car, so it's pointless.  I think we're going to have to suck it up and hit BRU or BBB on a weekend and see what fits, then buy something.

  • BRU is getting ready to do their trade in deal again (25% off if you bring in an old baby gear item) so maybe wait for that to start. They don't show the new carseats being in stock until early September.

  • We had to get a new seat since we were in our accident.  I ordered the Marathon 70 through Amazon for $223.99 (with free shipping).  I'm pretty pleased with that.

The 5 lb difference is a big deal with us.  Andy has always been 97-100% on weight.  I am excited that these new seats go to 40 lbs for rear facing.
