Shazzie - I would love to hear...

This story:

'I am an awesome Nestie wife because we threw a party and I blew up our patio, proving I can still party and be awesome.'

  • Yes, please elaborate.  Was there fire involved?

  • Ok, so, Saturday we threw our annual summer cookout, and it was much smaller attendance, but somehow, more beer.

So since we went to Greece and ate octopus, our friend said he'd bring some octopus to our party and we'd grill it. Fantastic! We did a round of burgers, people were getting pretty happy at this point, so we decided to throw on the octopus. Well, we did this having not looked up how to grill octopus, therefore we were lacking the knowledge that you're supposed to "pre-cook" it in the oven before grilling. Oops! So after 30 minutes of grilling, the charcoals were getting weak, so Sean and I poured another batch of coals into our lighting chimney, which is basically a round metal cylinder that makes lighting/heating coals easier. Since the octopus was still on the grill, we set the chimney on the concrete patio next to the grill and lit 'er up!

So we had a few minutes to let the coals get fired up and turn grey, so we went back to drinking beer and having a jovial time. And then it suddenly sounded like a car backfired. And there was a black hole in the patio, about the size of a large dinner plate. The chimney had tipped over and charcoals spilled out (luckily not burning anyone), and once we got over the stunned silence, we all started laughing, saying things like "Oh sh!t! Wicked sweet!" and got a shovel and threw the coals on the grill. And then we overcooked the octopus.

    The end.

  • Complete with a picture!  Awesome.  Sounds like a good party.
