I love room service!

Most of you already know that I'm in San Antonio traveling for business.  What you don't know is that I'm staying at the Hotel Valencia, my favorite SA hotel, for the first time in a couple of years. I love, love, LOVE their room service.  I don't know what it is - maybe it's because they bring a fresh flower on the tray (which happens to be a bright orange gerbera daisy today). Or maybe it's because they bring brown sugar for my oatmeal even when I forget to ask for it. Whatever it is, I am loving my room service at the Valencia this morning! It just puts me in a good mood and is a great way to start the day.

And on a side note - my back is feeling so much better today.  My pain is down to a 3 this morning and I don't feel the urgent need to take the meds that make my head fuzzy.  (Although those meds helped me get a triple whammy out of the drinks I had last night with dinner!)

Where have you ladies stayed (for business or pleasure) that you just absolutely loved and try to get back to whenever you can?

  • We always stay at Delta hotels when we travel, because HH does business with them so we either stay for free, or for very very cheap.  We looooove the Delta, because they always put us in the swankiest suites and give us tons of extras for free.  Last Thanksgiving we stayed there for about 5 nights, and I got there after HH did, because I was coming from work and had to meet him there.  When I got to our room, it was a whole suite - it had two seperate entrances, two huge bathrooms, one with a huge jacuzzi, and there was two bottles of wine, a case of beer, a cheese plate and chocolate dipped strawberries waiting for us.

Every time we stay with them, they have food for us - cheesecake, cookies, fudge, specialty candies, etc...and always have wine waiting as well.  They also leave cute little hand written note cards saying things like "We're so glad to see you again!" and things like that.  The customer service has always been amazing, no matter which one we've stayed at, and they have the comfiest beds too.

  • Depends on the client but sometimes I travel a lot for work (ugh!). I normally prefer Starwood hotels but I also like Hiltons (the downtown Hilton in Austin is one of my favorites).

I can tell you the worst hotel i've stayed in for work...Holiday Inn in El Paso, Tx. I was traveling by myself and I was watching MSNBC and the headlining news story was how bad the sex & drug trafficking was in El Paso. Needless to stay I was either in my room or drove straight tot he client site that week.

I love Starwood hotels, too!  We stayed at the Westin here in HSV the night after the wedding and then we stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton the night we left for the HM.

  • I got to stay at a Four Seasons hotel on a small island in Hawaii. It was AMAZING. It's the Pineapple island, so when you check in you get a glass of fresh pineapple juice, and in your room they have chocolate covered pineapple (did I mention that pineapple is like one of my most favorite foods ever???) I kinda hated calling for room service cuz the people who answered had strong accents and I fail at understanding accents, but oh man the kahlua pork nachos, and brioche french toast, EVERYTHING we had there was freakin delicious, and it was so gorgeous, with the comfiest beds.

I hate pineapple.  Even if I didn't, chocolate covered pineapple sounds seriously gross.

  • I'm so glad that you're feeling better!

I can't tell any great hotel stories. I grew up pitching tents every single night on vacation, and even now, a big splurge is a Super 8 or the like. I pack granola bars, fruit snacks, and an ice chest of drinks in the back seat of the car so we don't have to eat out or call for room service. We love those free continental breakfasts in the lobby, though (why, yes, I do know a lot of Jeff Foxworthy jokes...)!

Sometimes I get to stay somewhere a little better for work. I think the nicest place I ever stayed was the Penn Stater hotel in State College, but my friend and I just ordered a pizza instead of room service. :)

  • HA!!!  The only kind of pineapple flavored stuff I like better have alcohol in it!!!  I DO like pineapple-orange juice though.... There are just certain things that chocolate should not be mixed with... anything citrusy just doesn't sound right with chocolate.  That't like eating an orange dipped in chocolate.... Sounds gross to me!!

  • Starwood Hotels for us - we're prefereed guests thanks to DH travelling all the time for work. We stayed at the St. Regis NYC for my 30th birthday and spent a week in the St. Regis Rome on our HM.

We stayed in Westin, Napa Valley over July 4th and the Room Service & Hotel resterant were both awesome.  We're staying in the Westin, Aruba for our winter vacation this year...

My fave, though, was a Hyatt I stayed in for a few days for a work trip I took to Seattle. I used to always try to stay in Hyatts when I travelled for business. I liked the one in Denver, too.

The Bump ate my signature. DD - Apr 2011 DS - expected June 2013
