Passport Scare

I'm glad to be back home from Korea.  :)  Just trying to get readjusted to the time change. I had a bit of a scare yesterday though - I was checking in for my flight at the airport and the person helping me was interrupted by a person from the airline with an older couple that had just checked in next to me. I wasn't really paying attention, it was in Korean so I just waited. Well, the person helping me gives the man back a piece of paper and an American passport. I thought to myself, I wouldn't have guessed they were American, but anyway. Then, as he turns away, I notice he has two non-American passports in his other hand and he walks away. I start to panic, I'm looking for my passport over the counter and do not see it anywhere. Luckily, someone helping with baggage realized what was going on and runs after the man. The lady gave him my freaking passport and didn't even realize it! OMG, I don't even want to think of how bad yesterday could have been!

Re: Passport Scare

  • YIKES!  That is a scary!!!

Welcome back.  How was your trip?

  • That's scary!

When we were coming home from Paris in Jan. '09 we were going through the security check. There were 2 security workers, one to move you through the line/scanner, and one at the end checking you ticket & passport to make sure you were suppose to enter the terminal. Well the first guy I came to grabbed my passport from me leaving me with only my ticket. I'm like "that was kinda rude, but ok - he's security." So I walk through the scanner and the second guy who's checking your ticket with you passport is like "where's your passport?!" I point at the other guy & say "he took it!" The guy who took it looks all confused and is like "what? no I didn't." Talk about FREAK OUT. The whole thing only lasted about 10 seconds before the first guy remembered he did take it and sent it through the scanner where it was sitting at the end of the conveyor for anyone to walk off with. I guess they aren't suppose to take your passport at all, you hold onto it, but the guy who grabbed it was sidetracked talking to another coworker and I think he did it without even realizing it. At any rate it was really scary for a second.

  • I would have been freaking out!
