DIY Matted Photo Album
I'm researching DIY matted photo albums to see if it would be cheaper to make one ourself versus ordering one through our photographer.
Right now, from the info our photographer gave us, we can get an 8x10 album with about 30 images for $175.
I'm pretty sure I can get a 10x10 with more pictures for less money if I DIY. But it kinda makes me nervous.
Here's the website I found - basically we'd order the album with however many pages we want and then order the mats in whatever designs we'd want to use. My understanding is that the photos just slip into the mats.

I think you could get more for your $$ if you DIY... 30 photos is not a lot, I think it'd be awfully hard to choose.
I am trying out Blurb for my album. It seems fairly easy to use, but for some reason it keeps making my whole computer freeze up... which very easily could be my computer and not the application. My Mac is getting old and finnicky
We did out guestbook album on Snapfish and we were very happy with it. Got a lot of compliments. If I can't get Blurb to work on my computer I'll probably go with Snapfish again.
I'd say definitely DIY. Our photographer offers the photo books for $175--when you can get them from any photo sharing site for around $40. There's a huge markup for profit and time to put the album together.
Those ones look like really nice quality, but do you get much variety in pages? I can't tell how that works.
