Hi!
So I just had to send you a quick note to point out some very weird coincidences...
1. Same wedding date (July 17, 2010)
2. We are both from Northern California (I grew up in Los Gatos, south bay)
3. We both now live in Norther Virginia (I live near South Riding/Chantilly)
Just thought it was weird and fun at the same time...

Wow..Very interesting similarities! I'm actually from Santa Maria (central coast), but was living in Mountain View when I met my husband. We were just in LG this weekend (DH's cousin and her FI just moved there) and had brunch at LG cafe...yum!
We currently live in Sterling.
What brought you to VA?
DH finished his PhD and is now working for a company that his family owns that is in Chantilly.
I love the LG cafe, though Southern Kitchen is my absolute FAVORITE breakfast place in LG... You will have to mention it to your cousin... YUMMM... Also, Andeles is my favorite lunch or dinner place... thanks for making me crave it! lol
I came to NoVa for grad school and work opportunities... I wanted to work in homeland security, and what better place than washington, DC? So after I finished my masters at Hopkins, I started working as a contractor for one of the federal agencies... I love it... I also work in Chantilly, right by the Target, which is only about 6 miles from my house... I

Only a couple more weeks left of summer... any fun plans?
Also, we need to schedule a Nestie/Knottie GTG... a girl I work with is getting married in a month or so, and she is a Knottie and there are a few girls from her board that are in the area too...
What brought you out here to VA?
My husbands job brought us out here in July of 08'. We've been here two years and I've adjusted some, but have had a hard time with the weather and meeting a good group of girlfriends. He grew up here, so it has been like coming home for him.
One of the best things to come out of moving to VA has been my teaching job. The schools here are amazing!
I'd love to do a G2G. I saw that the DC area ladies had one not too long ago, but I haven't really made an effort to be active on that board.
Ya, I agree establishing a group of girlfriends out here is tough... I had a couple of close friends and they moved... Thankfully I live in a GREAT neighborhood where my neighbors are a lot of fun and we do things together a lot... All the girls and the DH's get along... though it is hard for us because we are the only one's with a baby... Other people have older kids or no kids... makes it tough..
I can totally relate with the weather... I HATE the weather here and the traffic is the worst... I keep trying to get DH to move to california... though, I wouldn't be able to find a job as easily there... Oh well, perhaps retirement... :-)
I am not active on the DC board either... course, I went underground for a while... between work, being pregnant, then having the baby and wedding planning the knot/bump and nest were too much for me! I have a different job now where I have an office and I am not on the road all day... so more computer time! yippeee!
I will post something about a knottie GTG and see if we get any responses... It would be nice to meet someone that gets my disdain for Va weather and traffic... ;-)
