Hi!

Hi Ladies, I finally have a chance to sit down and say hello.  We've been on Oahu for about two weeks now and are getting settled in.  We found a house that we really like and is within our budget.  Our small shipment of household goods arrived yesterday and our big one should arrive next week.  DH is upset, because we can't get internet or cable hooked up until the 3rd, but my BIL showed me how to get wireless through my phone, so I don't mind too much.

So far we have been enjoying the beaches and all of the food here.  Any recommendations on things we have to do or places to eat?

I'm looking forward to talking on the board again!

Re: Hi!

  • I was just thinking about you today and wondering how your move was going.  That is awesome that you found an affordable house already!

Sadly, I have only been to Oahu once so I don't have much to recommend, but have fun getting to know the islands!!!

  • Like Vanessa, I've only been there once so I don't have any recs, but YAAAAAYYYY for a successful move! So glad you found a house so quickly and that your stuff is arriving (booo for no internet, but at least you can use your phone!).
  • hello!! congrats on finding a house already - that's great!!  here are some places to eat that I think of when I think of oahu:  eggs n' things (for breakfast), leonards (malasadas!), wailoa, aoki's, matsumotos, or ice garden (shave ice), ono hawaiian, rainbow drive-in, side street inn, kaka'ako kitchen (local/hawaiian), teddy's bigger burgers, giovannis shrimp truck, the mochi cart at ala moana food court, bubbies (mochi ice cream!), or liliha bakery (sweets).  oh!  and you must have ted's chocolate haupia pie - the bakery itself is up on the north shore, but grocery stores in honolulu/waikiki will have them too

    enjoy!

  • i have a google map of a billion things to do on oahu if you'd like :)

    email me at candc[dot]oneill[at]yahoo[dot]com

  • Hello!  Smile  That's great you found a place so quickly.  I have to agree with Sandra's rec's for Oahu.

I think the thing I enjoyed the most about Oahu (and the other islands) was the availability and selection of fresh tropical fruit.  Not exactly a recommendation but if I had a house there, I'd be making all kinds of stuff with all that delicious local fruit!

  • Glad you guys found a house already! That was fast =) And good to hear you guys are having fun and enjoying the beaches and food!

I second SanHawaii's recs! For Giovannis shrimp truck, get there early because they close when they run out! I also recommend Roy's (which you probably already been to) and Tiki's.

Glad to see you back on the boards again!!
