Vent
I'm not trying to start any kind of debate or offend anyone or anything I just thought this would be a safe place to vent about this. I get so tired of people sending me email forwards about how you either love America or hate America. Just because I don't get offended by someone else wearing or having a flag from another country or don't have a problem with people with a religion different from my own doesn't mean I don't love America. Ugh.

I agree. Along similar lines, God forbid you don't give a hot damn whether or not you have to press one for English. I swear, if a certain member of H's family doesn't stop inviting me to that damn group I am going to blow a freaking gasket.

Thank you. I teach ESL students math, and given they want to learn English, but so many people tell me, "they're in America they should already know English." First, give them a chance to LEARN English. I have students that have only lived here for 2 days. How can you know it in two days?
Also, my students in Laredo will never need to know English unless they leave Laredo. I really have no problem. I was under the impression America had no official language.
I agree and love that America is a melting pot of cultures. My MIL drives me nuts with those type of statuses/group requests on Facebook.
That being said, I was very annoyed today when I called the local Workforce Solutions office to get help with my job search and the woman on the phone could barely speak/understand English. I finally just made an in-person appointment because we were getting nowhere on the phone.
