too hot to cook

What do you ladies do when it's just too darn hot to cook inside (other then eat out)? We use the grill quite a bit... but that gets boring. I just loathe the thought of heating the house up right now.

Re: too hot to cook

  • I'd love to trade weather with you for a while Alison.

We also use the grill on really hot days.  It has seriously saved me from collapsing on the kitchen floor this summer.  I absolutely love using our BBQ and would prefer it over eating out.  Plus it leaves less of a mess than cooking.

If you have the right tools, you can use it very similar to the way you would use your oven or stove top.  Try looking up recipes for alternative grilling Sarah.  Maybe something from Bobby Flay since he's known for it.

  • we usually end up eating a big @ss salad!

I should try this. Neither one of us eats salad on a regular basis. There is a salad from Panera Bread that I'm obsessed with, I should try to copy that at home.

  • never had that happen.  i guess we would order in.

I would love to learn how to do this! I know it can be done with pots & pans on the grill...

  • Big salad and I never get tired of the grill.  Or go out!
  • Crockpot.  I'm slightly obsessed with it and it doesn't raise the temperature in our house like the oven does!

can you share some crockpot recipes? i have one, would love to use it more, but never, ever do.

  • We grill or do salads or something simple that doesn't require the oven.

We do use the crockpot but when it's been in the high 90's here, with no a/c the idea of eating hot food has been really unappealing to me.

This! I think I've used it twice... I don't know what to cook.
