Follow up on my cat

I posted this in the 'Pet' section but also wanted to put it here.  This is a follow up to this message: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/41335448.aspx

I basically just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement and advice.  The past week has been one big rollar coaster ride.  We decided to make an appointment for Kitty last Tuesday after we tried to force feed her her medication (as per vets advice) and it turned out badly.  The only vet willing to make house visits in our area was booked until today so we scheduled the appointment.  Shortly after doing that, Kitty perked up a little.  She started to eat a little and walked around (before she was just laying around all day).  After a few days of her eating, we cancelled the appointment thinking that there was maybe a small ray of hope.  However, Friday she started to take a turn for the worse again to where it was impossible to get her to eat or drink and she again hardly moved around.  Yesterday was the worse.  She was breathing so heavy that she was panting and she didn't even respond to petting.  DH and I spent a good amount of time discussing options.  It just kept coming back to that taking her to the vet would probably kill her because she gets so upset and we didn't want that to be how her life ended.  However, Kitty made the decision easy on us.  She passed away last evening.  I guess I could say that I was lucky enough to of just happen to check on her right before it happened and was able to get DH in time so we were at least with her.  It was easily one of the worse things I've ever been through but I have to tell myself that she is now in a better place where she feels no pain.  I already miss her so much.

So, thanks again for the prayers and encouragement.  It meant a lot to me.  Poor Kitty will be missed greatly but she did leave a mark on DH and my lives and we will never forget her.

  • I am so sorry about Kitty! :-( I cried just reading this. I know that this is probably hard for you, but at least she's not hurting any more, and she had both of you with her in the end knowing she was loved.
