Food Repulsions

Do you have any food items that make your stomach turn? What are they?

Mine are raw celery (the smell), bananas (the smell), and the thought of drinking milk.

Re: Food Repulsions

  • Tomatoes - I have never liked these, ugh just writing/thinking about these make my stomach turn, yuck!  Weird thing is though, I will eat anything made from tomatoes, V-8 juice, spaghetti sauce (I do pick out the big chucks of tomatoes if there are any), salsa and ketchup.

    Raw Onions
Green Peppers - Raw or cooked
    Oysters
Dark meat and skin from Chicken or Turkey
    Any organ parts from animals

  • Most seafood and fennel.  That's about it.

  • I am trying to think of an answer to this.. but I really can't think of any.  I did go to a culinary arts university and have tried many different types of food.. so I can't really think of much that I don't like (that and I'm a fattie and will eat anything..lol!)  The only thing I can think of is any type of insect!  No chocolate covered grasshoppers for me!

  • I am sure I have a ton - I am a very picky plain eater, but the first thing that popped into my head is peas.. ugh the texture, they mush in your mouth, the smell makes me gag
  • I have certain foods I like less than others, but sadly for me I like pretty much anything. The only thing that grosses me out is chicken when it's thick- I can't stand biting into a huge chunk of meat like that- now if I slice it, dice it, or shred it, no problem. Or if it's a thin cutlet type patty.

  • Like Tiff, I have a culinary background, so this is a tough question!!

Tapioca makes me cringe - I don't like the texture.

  • Venison...ugh...

and since having the baby- the smell of fish makes me ill...we had tuna the other day and I thought I was going to lose it..I can eat it but the smell...

  • I wish I had more!  Like to chocolate etc.  :)  I literally can't eat foods with gluten because they make my stomach more than turn, but other than that, there isn't much.  I don't like olives.  I want to like them because those fresh olive bars in the store always look so lovely, but blech.  Other than that, I'm up for most things.
  • Raw tomatoes-yet I love sauce, ketchup and salsa.

    Cucumbers- yet I love tzatziki

Raw celery- but think it is a must in chicken noodle soup

    Olives

  • Sushi grosses me out.  Even if the fish is cooked or there isn't even any fish at all.  I don't know if it is the smell or something about cold rice or what.  I have a hard time even sitting across from my husband when he eats it  Blech.

There are a lot of other things I just don't like - cucumbers, olives and mushrooms - but I just pick them out of my meal if I come across them.

  • Tomatoes - but not salsa or ketchup or sauce

Peaches - only if the skin is still on - can't stand the fuzz

Raw meat - like with sushi

    Eggs - gross!

Can't stand the smell of tuna or bleu cheese either.

There are SO many more I'm sure!

  • Chicken.  Especially raw chicken, or undercooked... it just freaks me out.  I do eat it sometimes, usually shredded, or in something.

I shudder at white milk... I can only drink milk if its chocolate, and I mix it myself - no premixed.

I do sometimes put milk in my cereal to wet it down though...
