House Key - Stolen from another board

I'm not really sure which board I stole this from, but it got me thinking.  Who have you given your house key to and why?

No on has our apartment key but DH and I.  Not even our landlord because he honestly didn't want one.  The reason for this is because we live in an old town area and both our families tend to drop by unannounced all.the.time.  This includes cousins, siblings, parents.  Plus I know for a fact our parents would both abuse it as they have for both our siblings.

I'm feeling differently about the new house though.  The fact that it would be an hour drive for most would make it harder to just drop by.  Plus we have a lot of SAH family members who would really enjoy using the pool while we're at work.

    My mom has one. She actually lives next door to us so she's often at our house (though never without asking us first). One of my close friends had one while she was house sitting for us but has given it back. We also have a really well-hidden hide-a-key for emergencies. And that's about it!

    No one. But I guess if something ever came up we could give away the garage code to get into the house.

    Our neighbor, my parents, a good friend and my SIL.  They all cat sit for us on occasion.

    No one. I keep meaning to give one to my mom, but I keep forgetting. Plus I told her if I give her (them) one she can't tell my dad because HE will abuse it! lol. I want to give one to my IL's also - I know they won't ever use it unless it's a dire emergency. We could live next door and they wouldn't come over, hahaha. I'm contemplating giving one to our neighbor also.

    A bunch of people had our old house key (our dog sitter, a neighbor, and a close friend) but no one has this one because no one lives close!

    Nobody has ours.  When we go out of town we leave one at the neighbors because their daughter feeds and plays with our cat.

    No one.  I'm not opposed to it, I just can't think of why anyone would always need a set.  When we go out of town for more than a weekend I give my set to a family member to come check our cats, but then I get it back.

    Right now in our apartment no one has a key except the landlord. When we lock ourselves out I just have to call or go to the office and they unlock our apartment.  When we move to our house soon, I think we will give the keys to our parents so when that happens we can get in... or maybe just a hide-a-key.

    Just us right now.  We want to make a copy for my mom though.  She would never abuse it, but it would be nice in case we're out of town or lock ourselves out.  Our landlord has a set too, but their office closes at like 5 or something.  At our last house our friends had a copy because they would dog sit for us when we went on vacation.

    i don't even have a key to my house! i always come in the garage, and we leave that door unlocked. if anyone needs to get in to our house for any reason - like, to let the dogs out or something - we'd give them the garage code. only my dad (bc he's the one that always comes over, not mom) and kyle's mom know the code. and they forget it every time, so it's like starting from scratch everytime.

    No one. Our familes and close friends live way too far from us for it to be useful to anyone. Sometimes, I wish someone did though. Since Dh leaves after me and gets home before me, I can go weeks without realizing I don't have my house key and of course, DH is nowhere close when I'm locked out of the house!

    Just DH and myself and our landlord. I'm not sure yet what I'll do when we buy a house. It depends on how close we move to family. If it's close enough for them to just "drop by" they won't be getting a key. Wink

    I think the only people that have keys to our house are myself and my parents.  DH didn't even have a key when he was home.  And the only reason my parents have a key is to come over and see/play with the dog if I'm not home.

    My mom and uncle and my neighbor.  My neighbor used to come and pill and feed the old cat before he died.  Now she has it, incase I lock myself out.  Which I have done.  I never lock the doors and Timm does.  So I am constantly locked out.
