I need Help :)

My friend is scheduled to give birth next week! (HOLY COW THAT WENT FAST!)

I've already made a card...but what do I give her?

Re: I need Help :)

  • Maybe something for her while she is at the hospital. A lil gift basket with magazines or something. Or maybe something off her registry? Or a baby book if she doesn't have one?

  • ha! I totally forgot about her registry...DUH

If you have other good suggestions please let me know!

  • My favorite is to give something super cute from etsy.com like a bib or baby legs or a piece of baby knitwear and then a gift card from wherever they are registered.  That way you get the fun of the cute gift and the practicality of the gift card to get something boring but needed like diapers or bottles or whatnot.

  • Do you mind making a meal and bringing that over once they are home? I really enjoyed the cute baby clothes, flowers, and cards, but I loved when we had a few home-cooked meals to eat. If you wanted to cook something, make sure there at leftovers that are easy to warm up or even freeze and warm up. Quick, good meals made life a lot easier :) Even a gift card to a restaurant that does take-out is great, if you're not up for cooking.

Or you could even offer a 'free babysitting night' for them to use in the future. You could make it look like a gift certificate or coupon and give it to them with the card. I just even loved having people over once MH went back to work so I wasn't alone all.the.time.

  • Food.  Smile

I would have LOVED more food.  My mom brought some stuff over and it was awesome.

  • FOOD! The last thing I wanted to do was cook when I was short on sleep and frazzled :-)
  • No personal experience, obviously, but my friends have always seemed really appreciative of food. You could get a bunch of frozen entrees from Making Thyme (fresh, local ingredients) and stock up their freezer! We have also in the past gotten people a gift card to a local pizza place that delivers, so they can have a quick hot meal without any effort.

  • Frozen food is awesome, but also fresh fruit, or gift cert. to a pizza take out or something like that.

I also LOVE the Todd Parr "I Love You" book. http://www.toddparr.com/books/
