Hi everyone. I became a god mother a week ago and we're going to see my niece on Labor Day weekend for her christening. I'm new to the whole god mother thing so I'm a little out of my element. What do you get as a gift?
I was thinking just giving her $500 to start a college fund, but I don't know if that's the norm.
Any suggestions, thoughts, advice on this one?
Re: God Parent Gifts
I agree with Punky, I think that's very generous!
If that is what you want to do and you have the means to do it, I would go for it. However, definitely don't feel pressure to go that large with the gift, because I don't think it's necessary or expected (although I'm sure it would be hugely appreciated!)
Yeah, that's a ton of $$$ in my circle. I am my brother's godmother and didn't do anything special for him, ever. My godmother (my aunt) just encourages me to go to church and stuff. I guess it depends on what is normal for your family.
Congrats on the new neice and god daughter!
