A's 1st Birthday Party

Party!!!Anyone want to help me plan it?  LOL.  I really stink at doing parties.  We are going to have it at our house and 2 weeks before her birthday, in hopes that the weather is nice enough to have everyone outside.  My mom & friend both think I should also make it a house warming party, as this is the first time everyone will see our house.  I don't know if I really want to do that or how I would word it.  Also, I don't want people to feel they need to bring a gift for either the house or A.  Any thoughts/suggestions?  Oh, thoughts on a theme (do we even need one?), food, drinks..etc.  As you can see, I just need help with it all..lol Big Smile

Re: A's 1st Birthday Party

  • I would just keep it a bday party and not a housewarming party. Make it all about A since it's her 1st bday.

I had a YGG party for J. I think the cupcake theme is cute, usually done in pink & brown or purple & brown. I saw the cutest 1st bday dress as kohls the other day. It was pink and had tulle skirt and had a cupcake on it. I really wanted to buy it.

  • I think I'd keep it as just a Birthday Party too.  Especially if you don't want people to bring you gifts anyhow.

While themes are fun, I don't think that 1st birthdays really need one.  Just the fact that it's her first birthday can be your theme.  OR, find her a really cute birthday outfit, and then make your 'theme' the colors of her outfit! :)

Make the food something easy to prepare and easy to eat.  Picnic type foods, finger foods, etc.  And be sure to have some adult beverages. ;);)

That was my thought on it too, who cares about the house. ;-)  Aww that dress sound cute. I might have to go look for it..hehe.  So, did you put up a lot of signs and decorations?  Do I need to have games for the kids that will come?  The kids will range from 2 yrs to 6 yrs.

  • Our party was mostly adults, only 2 kids, so we didn't have games or favor bags. For decorations we had a banner and then put up streamers and had a few bunches of balloons. For food we just had various types of appetizers. I can look up the menu I had if you're interested.

This!! I would make it all about her. We just bought a house also and it was the 1st time my side of the family and friends had seen it.

I did the cupcake theme for Abby's 1st birthday. Angi did my cake and I think Abby had that exact same dress from Kohl's. I have pictures on my FB page or I did put a picture on Angi's business page.

Hound ... If you can find a picture of the dress let me see it and if it's the same you seriously can have mine. I'm getting ready to have a garage sale in two weeks so it's hanging ready to go. It's a 12 months, perfect condition and worn for an hour or two only. I can bring it to the halloween zoo thing. :o)

  • ... and I never did games.  I have 4 kids and we have never done games at our parties. No one cares really. I do (not for Abby's) the little gift bags and fill with stickers, fruit snacks, stuff like that. Only when they were school aged though.
  • ditto everyone else.....make it all about a's 1st b-day.   i wouldn't go into to many decorations or games, but if you are having a lot of kids, you could always put together a small grab bag for them....nothing big.

ps - your siggy pics are adorable!

  • I love party planning! I would keep it bday party, people will be excited to see ur house anyways. I like the cupcake theme, there is 1st bday princess type theme also. But I would get just enough decor to make ur pics cute. U can even get colored table cloths from the $1 store. We did baby einstein for P and toy story for M since we had a joint bday party for them. Don't worry about games it will be so chaotic w/ people giving her attention and wanting her attention. We usually get pizza but the finger type foods are a good idea too. We usually get boxes of caprisuns for kids if ur having a decent amount its a thought.

  • I wouldn't do a housewarming party with it. Everyone will be able to see the house while at the bday party. :)

As far as themes you don't need one. Or if you want you can do a color theme.

These are the themes I have done for my kids.

B's 1st: Colored - Pink "Fun to be one".

B's 2nd: Lady bug theme (black and red)

    B's 3rd: Dora

C's 1st: Colored - Hot pink and black damansk

I haven't done any games at there party's. Most of the kids are around their age so a little young still. I will probably start doing games at Braelyn's 4th birthday party.
