skin issues

I have always had good skin but the past few months I have had some issues.

My face actually feels rough to the touch. And I have bumps all over my upper arms. I used to get some on the back of my armms but these are all over. They don't itch, but they feel rough too.

Is this normal post pregnancy? Should I see a dermotologist? Or does anyone have any over the counter recommendations?

Re: skin issues

  • I chalk all ridiculous skin changes up to stupid, stupid hormones.

Do you ever exfoliate? I'd get a an exfoliating scrub and body scrub too and some good moisturizers, and try that first for a few weeks. If it still persists, then I'd call the dermatologist.

Is it this? I have it.  Try a lotion with lactic acid. I think exfoliating makes it worse.

Maggie has bumps too, but the pedi says its eczema, so is that a possibility?

  • Leprosy?  Ewww, you better not start losing body parts when you visit.

  • That sounds like ezcema to me too.  I have it and so does Connor (I didn't realize that was what it was until Connor).  The pedi suggested heavy moisturizers that are oil based rather than baby lotion types.

  • Our pedi said to wash Maggie with Cetaphil and use Aquaphor to moisturize. I'm sure that works for adult skin as well.

  • kristen, it looks just like the link you sent me.

ryker has exzema and i thought that could be it too, but it's not itchy and i thought exzema was.

exfoliating hasn't helped. i'll try the lactic acid.

cetaphil cleared ryker's right up, but no luck with me. i didn't try it on my face though because i was worried it would cause me to break out.

and my face just feels rough, but you cannot see anything.

  • I've used AmLactin in the past, which helps.

  • Mine is not itchy.  Just rough/bumpy kind of on the back of my upper arms.

Connor has gotten it on his stomach and legs too.

I use nothing but cetaphil on my face now. I could kick myself for all the money I spent on expensive stuff.

  • I have excema and it has always itched. The only thing that has helped is an Rx steriod cream.

I use Cetaphil normal to oily skin formula every night on my face and my skin has never looked better.

  • awesome. i will try this all out.
  • I have what Kristen has and it sounds exactly like what you're describing.

  • I had bad adult acne, and eventually I had to get a prescription to get it under control. Once my skin was not so irritated, washing with Cetaphil has worked better than anything. I still have some leftover prescription gel I use if I get a zit here an there, but it's nothing like what I had to deal with two years ago.  I wish I'd tried this before ruining two sets of sheets with Proactiv.
