What would you do with 24 hour hours?

Life has been really crazy lately and I was commiserating with a dear friend the other day.  He told me that every few years, when he gets particularly overwhelmed, he reserves 24 hours and plans to do only what he wants to do. This year he ate wings, drank beer, and played video hockey in the evening and then spent the entire next day at Dia:Beacon (a museum).

Thats what he did... what would you plan for a 24 hour break from your life?

Re: What would you do with 24 hour hours?

  • Hmm, good one to ponder.

I would probably sleep in late (obviously), then would catch a matinee in an empty movie theatre with popcorn and a diet soda. Then I would probably go eat at a good restaurant with lots of courses (13 courses for e.g.). Then I would sit in a park and people watch for the rest of the afternoon, then go home and sleep the rest of the 24 hours. Yeah that would do it for me. No phones, no interwebz...

  • Ooh, what a great question/fantasy!!

I would try to sleep in late, but that doesn't always work. Plus, i don't want to miss out on my 24hrs!

I'd probably want to have a glorious lunch at some expensive restaurant, cuz lunch is cheaper. Mani/pedi. Crochet. Have drinks at a sexy hotel bar with DH. Go see Billy Elliott. Spend time with DH. :)

  • i would head directly to the beach house.  do not pass go or collect $200.  any season of the year, i love that place.

Emerald Nuts Midnight Run (4m) 1/1/12

  • I would get a spa treatment and then have a fabulous fancy lunch.  Then I would take myself shopping and buy myself something nice.  Then I would go to the theatre and then have a late dinner and drinks.

Oh, and all the food I ate would be bad, bad, bad for me.

Or, I would do a food tour of NY.  Brooklyn for pizza, Flushing for Chinese, etc... and explore neighborhoods I don't know very well.

  • I get bored not being productive. I am a horrible beach goer. I can't just lay out there on the beach for more than 3 hours.

I've been wanting to go to spa castle. I would love if my gfs from Wisconsin would come and we could go there for a day. The resort in DR was pretty good too: food buffet, drinks, beach, pool, dancing.

  • Definitely a spa day.  And take a yoga class.  A long one that I don't need to rush out of.  And a nice dinner out somewhere.  And sleep :-)

  • I like this question!

    Let's see...what would I do?

I'd definitely not wake up to an alarm clock. Maybe start the day with a lovely brunch at Essex (yummy) and just see the sights the city has to offer. Now that I don't work there and haven't been there in forever, I miss it. And being DH does work there, he hates going back when he doesn't have to. =/ So, after doing some touring, I'd go see a broadway (or off broadway) play and go to a nice restaurant in little italy for dinner. ooh, that sounds lovely the more I think about it. =)
