How to get grout clean on your tile floor?

Looking for some tips!!  Mine is not that bad but could use a good scrub.  Thanks!

Re: How to get grout clean on your tile floor?

  • I tried comet and came out pretty good. wet the floor, sprinkle, make a wet paste, wait a few minutes, scrub and wipe/rinse clean. i used a cleaning brush to get in deep, mine were pretty bad.

  • I just cleaned the grout on my tile kitchen counters w/ water & BarKeepers Friend & a grout brush.  Did wonders!
  • Thanks so much!!  I have the Bar Keepers friend here will try it out!
  • I use the Shark Steam Pocket with the brush attachment. It takes a long time, but the results are amazing, and if your grout is colored there is no risk of bleaching it. Plus the fact that it is chemical free makes it worth the time to me. And if you seal the grout after cleaning it, it will be much easier to maintain.
  • I have a steam cleaner for my tile (it's not just a mop it has other attachments) and it works wonders. There is an attachment that works great on grout. I didn't know the grout at my entrance was supposed to be white! It was never that color when we moved in so I assumed it was always greyish but I was surprised when all of the dirt started to come out.

I am trying to stay away from a lot of chemicals so the steam cleaner is my new best friend!

Here is the link for the cleaner I have:

  • I usually hire a service about once a year or year and a half and they use a machine that does an amazing job. It is that time again, though, and I decided to try it myself, because it is inconvenient to be here to let them in, etc.  I bought Zep brand grout cleaner at Home Depot. The bottle is covered with dire warnings but I accidentally got some on my foot and nothing seems to have happened. I couldn't find my grout brush so I used a toothbrush. It works really well, but I have a ton of tile with light colored grout, so I just did this to take care of the worst part, the kitchen.
  • This really helps out. We have a party coming up and I need to clean the tile grout.

I saw someone posted on sealing the grout after it's cleaned. How do I do that?

    Thanks! =)

  • Yes you will defin. want to reseal the grout after you deep clean and once a year.  You can buy the sealer and applicator any where you buy tile.

    Very easy to do.
