Re: How often do you drink?

  • I've had a long stressful day & I feel guilty that I want more than anything to pour a drink. Normally I could say I drink rarely. With the summer full of weddings & related parties its been more like monthly & I've drank for the last 2 weekends.

Im going to have a drink tonight too, because I really want it. Just have to wait for kiddo bedtime.

  • so i voted "several times a week"

but if i averaged it, more like "once" a week. because i have a couple weeks where i have a glass or three a few times a week, and then go a month without any because it just doesnt sound good- or maybe i want ice cream or chocolate milk instead. it's a "treat" ... but it doesn't mix well with my other edible vices.

  • I voted for several times as well, pretty much for the same reason as nobs stated.

BTW, when are we going to start our wine of the month?

  • I think the last time I actually drank it was before I moved to MN.  I just don't usually want it.  And when I do, it's at a social function/party.  I have never been one for sitting at home drinking alone. Hell, I had a sip or two of champagne at the wedding and then drank Coke all night.

I don't know, maybe it's due to seeing so many of my family end up being alcoholics?  It's never been a big thing for me.

Or during my 5 month club stretch in TN in my early 20's, I got burned out?  My roommate worked at a club, I was always there and made friends with the owner and staff.  I drank almost every night.  After that, I think I just sort of stopped.

Plus, having kids in the house makes it difficult.

Honestly, a cup of Caribou Coffee will make me feel better than drinking wine or beer after a long day.

  • I'm not gonna lie to you ladies... I voted several times a week and it's probably not an average.  I by no means get drunk (or even tipsy) that often, but I have a glass of wine when I get home from work quite often.  It's calming and makes me a nicer person :)

  • I voted several times a week. If it's a stressful day i will have a cocktail to unwind.

  • I am actually having a glass of wine right now.

I said a few times a week. There is nothing better than a glass of wine or a mixed frozen drink after a rough day at work. We have been making Dirty Banana's and Jamaican Smiles like crazy. We have definitely got our money's worth out of the new blender.

I will say that H and I do drink on the weekends if he is not on call. Last weekend we had about 4 drinks and I was feeling pretty tipsy. Plus I always sleep well after drinking. I have never been really drunk though which is a good thing.

  • I said once a month but I probably should have said rarely.

Social drinker at the most and honestly I would rather eat my calories than drink them.

Sadly I had my wild days in high school, not college.  Too many years of non-drinking and it takes me about one Mike's Hard to make a fool of myself nowadays.

When I was on weight watchers the first time, my mom used to give me a hard time because I'd always choose to drink my points- lol.  But that was when I was 22ish.  I can't handle not eating, nowadays.  And I choose to drink anyway.  That's why I've developed this extra layer of me.

  • I'm several times a week.  Although, honestly I do want to cut back a little.  Having one glass of wine is such a release for me when I get home from work that it is so hard to resist.  I certainly don't go crazy - just a glass makes me relaxed (bas. what Amber said) - but that said, I still want to cut back and find another destressing method that works.  Yoga maybe lol

  • Never. I can't.

The anxiety thing. Alcohol is a trigger. I tried to ease back into drinking wine last winter b/c... I wanted to ha! But it didn't work, 1/2 a glass and I got the shakes. Such a buzzkill :-/

  • I voted once a week, which is more of an average. Like, this week I had a bad week so I ordered wine with dinner one night and spiked my sprite with vodka another night. But, I don't think I had any alcohol for the two weeks or so before this one.

We did just run to the liquor store 5 minutes before closing time for a bottle of wine though. I'm feeling wine and movie tonight. (I'm in Utah so no wine in the grocery store. :(

  • I said rarely. I used to drink a few times a week but the past year or so I've laid off quite a bit.  I don't like beer so if I was drinking it was wine or mixed drinks.  I'll have wine every now and then but I never order mixed drinks anymore.  I'm like Knibs, at my reception I didn't even drink an entire glass of wine mostly diet coke.
  • Sometimes its once a week... usually only a few beers or glasses of wine. But sometimes I go a month without drinking.

I used to be a huge drinker, but after I graduated and started a real job, I just dont much anymore. Usually its because I know if I have more than just 1 or 2 drinks, it usually turns into to many, and than I feel like crap for days. Its just not me anymore. I have more important things to do than sit around feeling hungover.

Dont get me wrong, I am not an anti-drinker by any means lol. I just dont have the money or time or energy to do it often anymore. I maybe party 4-5 times a year at the most.

I made some stupid mistakes while I was younger and way to into the drinking scene. I have too much to lose now, to ever get back into it.
