So my FI and I are in the process of buying our first home (yay!) but the only thing it doesn't come with is a Washer & Dryer. We've started looking at the options out there and it's overwhelming. My question is, what do you ladies prefer Front or Top loading washers (I've only ever used top load) and is the steam function in the dryer really worth it?
Re: Washer and Dryer
I think a steam option on the dryer would be nice, but I wouldn't pay $300+ more for that option.
As far as washers, I currently have a FL that's nice (and it was free, yay). One thing I do like about a top loader is that you can soak your clothes if you want. My washer (Whirlpool Duet Sport) doesn't have any kind of pre-soak option.
Without question . . . get a LG front loader! I have the steam set but I know people who have the non-steam and they still love the LG.
I did a ton of research and I am sooo happy I went with LG. (I even got them in red!)

We are in the same boat. Me and DH are a couple of weeks away from closing (fingers crossed) and we have gone to Lowe's and Sears and a little local shop in our town looking at washers and dryers. I do want a front loader because with the drawers underneath I don't have to bend over to get the clothes out. Also they save energy and water. I think we have finally decided to get the Samsung Front loader washer and dryer. The dryer with the steam function.
Its crazy how many different types and brands there are and everything they do. It gets very confusing.?
Definitely go with a front loader as they use way less water (15 gallons compared to 40 with a top loader). We also just purchased our first home and bought a Samsung washer and dryer and I LOVE it! I don't think I knew what clean clothes felt like before, LOL.
