Fears and phobias

What are yours?

Mine are: squirrels, flying, and really long bridges (like the one to Maine, Montreal, etc.)

Re: Fears and phobias

  • I have a massive fear of walking on things I can see through (metal grates, glass, etc.)  If I can see through it, I am not walking on it!

I also have a problem going down things, like hiking down hills or skiing.  I'm not afraid of heights, and I can climb UP almost anything, but getting back down is always a challenge!

And I have a fear of mice, snakes, and most insects larger than an ant. :-)

    PersonalMilestone
  • Dental work!!  Also, heights, small spaces, my house catching on fire, and snakes.

  • I also have a fear of house fires: I dont use candles - EVER, and on occasion, I have turned around and driven back to my house out of fear that I left something on (despite whether or not it might even start a fire)... I also used to be terrified to use the crock pot because of this fear... but im over that now... it really is too convenient

  • I have some stuff I don't care to do (flying is a huge one), but I have a real fear of bats. I also hate clowns, but it's more of a creeped-out thing versus an actual fear.

  • I hate ants and straight down water slides yet I will go on any roller coaster, it's that too free feeling on the water slide I hate.

  • REady to laugh?

Car washes, absolutely petrified of driving through there.  I don't know what it is, I don't have anxiety, I am not slaustrophic, no idea, one time I was like I am gonna do it, but had my DH go with me, when we got up to pay I was like we need to switch... I can ride no problem, but to actually drive in there myself. - forget itI have been known to lose $10 before because I couldn't figure it out then a car came up behind me so I got nervous and just left.

  • I am terrified of vomiting and death.  My general rule is that I won't do something that could make either one happen to me.  (TTC should be a blast!  LOL!)  I also can't be around people who are sick, because I am a germaphobe.

I also hate snakes.  A lot.  I won't touch anything snake like (ie. eels) or scaley (ie. fish.)  I also don't like bats and huge bugs with lots of legs.  I am such a dork!

  • Spiders.  Like just typing out the word makes my skin crawl.  I am terrified of them.  Even looking at a picture scares me, so it was nice last Apriil Fool's Day (2009) when DH decided to tape a huge pic of one on the tiolet seat, inside a kitchen cabinet and under my pillow.  Good times.

I also have a fear of falling, open space heights (like walking across a bridge), long bridges....these all sort of go together.

I also have a fear of hitting someone with my car.  I check my mirrors a million times before backing up.

  • Dark creepy spots and heights are two big ones! I can be in high spots, but if i look down, get close to the edge (like when hiking), i immediately have this warmth come over me and i get all nauseous. It is weird.
  • I am also afraid of heights.  I went to a seminar at the Times Union Center about a year ago and we ended up having to sit all the way at the top and I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack sitting up there.  Yet, I am cool with going on roller coasters.. I think it is because I am strapped in.

FINALLY - someone that understands my fear of heights/love of roller coasters!!!!  I say the same thing to DH - must be because I'm strapped in.

  • My two worst are vomiting and getting blood drawn, so pregnancy should be great at first for that.  I'm sure it will help me overcome those, and I hope to work on them(at least the blood drawn thing) before we TTC.

Also snakes and spiders really give me the heeby-jeebies.  I will make DH deal with those, in turn I take care of any creatures with more than 8 legs that find their way inside.  Fortunately the dog takes care of most of the spiders and mili/centipedes.  Snakes outside though, he just barks and cokks his head at those, he really doesn't understand what is going on there (and I don't blame him!).
