Male..err MAIL organization
How do you keep your mail organized. My husband is awful at going through the junk and getting rid of it like CC offers and Insuance offers. It piles up on the counter and drives me crazy. Anyone have a great idea on how to keep it organized for him to go through when he has time. Some kind of filing box to sort it into??
Re: Male..err MAIL organization
I have a 3 tiered plate tray on my kitchen island. We throw bills on one plate, junk on another and other mail on the 3rd.
Not Martha Steward perfect but it works for us. The trash is right by it, so on my nightly kitchen clean up, I dump the junk and sort the rest when I get a mintue.
Whichever of us picks up the mail shreds all junk mail offers like that before we even sort the "real" mail. I would just take it straight to the shredder (or cut it up by hand and throw it away, if you don't have a shredder) without even putting it out for him to review, if the problem is really junk mail like credit card offers.
If this won't work for your situation, I'd get a divided tray so you can at least separate out personal mail, bills, and junk, so he can prioritize everything more easily. I like the look of (but have not personally used) the "letter bins" that are part of this PB system. If you could hang a couple of those (each one has two slots, I think), it would keep stuff off your counter and give you a good place to sort all the mail.
We have a three-tiered wire mesh rack on the table next to the front door. One shelf each for myself, BF and our roommate. Next to that, we have an Ikea DVD box--whoever gets the mail throws it in the Ikea box if they don't feel like dealing with it right then. The box has a lid, so if we need the unsightly pile-up of mail out of view for guests, we pop the lid on. Done.
We have a no solicitation notice on our mailbox which has cut down 99% of the junk mail.
Then I sort and immediately toss anything else like CC and insurance offers.
Anything else that he needs to take care of, I put it straight on his desk either on his chair or his computer (so he'll have to at least glance through it when he sits down at his desk). I take care of the rest.

We have this that has two sides for mail. One for his and one for mine. Got it at Ikea.
