Family Photo Shoot - What to Wear?
Parker, Lars and I have a photo shoot with Noah Wolf this weekend. My main objective for the shoot is to get a good photo or 3 to use for our New Years card.
We are shooting outside in a park and as of today, the temps are supposed to be in the low 70s.
So, what should we wear? We're more a casual family than a dress up family. We'll be in jeans for sure but what about tops? I'm feeling very uninspired. Below is the last family photo we had taken by Noah about a 2 1/3 years ago. as you can see, we don't take ourselves terribly seriously... ; )

karla, that outfit sounds super cute! if you can find it, i'd love to see it. i'm VERY fashion challenged. everything i wear is pretty boring. : (
yes, it's a groupon session. you only get one image from the session but if we find another that we love, we might purchase it. we'll see! one is really good enough though. to have a pro photo that we love for $30... well, that's more than a great value!
I just found it. If you are a fan of JM Photography it's the photo she posted on her wall on August 26. Tried to FB message it to you but can't. I guess she's wearing yellow shoes not turquoise. Love the big earrings she's wearing too and the ruffled white shirt. I could see you rockin this outfit.
We purchased the Groupon too just not sure when we are going to take the pictures. Getting my dh to take pictures is like pulling teeth!

oh that's cute! i sent you a PM also.
The yellow/turq idea sounds like it could be really cute. We generally pick 2-3 colors and everyone wears a variation or combo of their choice. Our last large family photo we did red/white/navy so some had solid, some had stripes, etc so it looked cohesive but not overly matchy-matchy.
I'm absolutely in love with this style guide from Kelly Ridgell: http://www.kellyridgell.com/blog/2010/08/what-to-wear-fashion-guide-2/

This one's also really fun [haha from the 90's]: http://www.photographybyhartman.com/what_to_wear.asp
Ideally to make a vibrant photo the hope is for color and pattern that plays off of each other just right. Which is crazy to achieve sometimes! I don't think you're a matchy matchy girl, but I'll also pipe in that all white or all black family photos do not photograph very well.
