Fabulous Friday??

Ugh - I'm trying hard to have a fabulous Friday.  It didn't start out that way though...

Went to take a shower and realized quickly that NO water was draining.  I took apart the drain, nothing stuck in it.  So I marched to the basement and took apart the trap - sprayed water all over myself which was at least clean water - and nothing in the trap.  Got out the pipe snake and snaked the drain.  O.M.G. YUCK.  In addition to a giant wad of dog hair from bathing Lucy, there was probably 40 years of accumulated crap that came out.  Blech.  Got basement components back together, have DH run water.  Everything drains.  Super.  Put drain plunger and cover back together - realize Aunt Flo decided to come.  Grrr.  Whatever.

Get out the door only 10 minutes behind schedule (miraculously) only to be nearly hit in my car by someone who thought the giant 5 lane (center turn lane) road I was on was a one way and turned into my lane and was coming directly at me.  He got a one finger good morning and a long blast on the horn which is so unlike me.

But now it is better because I cashed in a free beverage I had earned at the local coffee shop and one of my coworkers brought in bagels for her birthday.  Here's to a better day and a lovely weekend!!

Re: Fabulous Friday??

  • Morning everyone! Still excited about yesterday's news, today should be pretty good. It's 'really' Friday, and I get an entire weekend off to spend baking, and starting to prepare for packing, so I can get going the second we have the green light.I also get to go to tea tomorrow for a friends birthday, and it's rare that I get to do girlie stiff, so that's pretty cool.

I have a decent shift today (despite Highly Annoying Pharmacist) and now that I'm drinking caffeine again, am thinking....latte!

    Hope it's grand!

  • Mine will be fabulous in about 15 minutes.  This week has been rather hideous as we have a big federal trial next week and everyone's been running around, not quite sure of what's going on.  But once I walk out that door, I'm going to forget alll of it.

  • Witty - I am so impressed by your plumbing skills!!

For me, it's a foggy, cold, fall feeling morning and after a week of 100-111 degree temperatures and my body just doesn't want to move (I love heat).  I just want to be cuddled in a blanket drinking chai and reading.

But aside from that, things are good so far.  I'm super excited for our To Go Dinner fundraiser this weekend.  I stopped taking orders last night and we got 88 orders.  I'm super happy with that given we only had a week and a half to collect orders.

Tonight I'm getting whatever organic ingredients I can find at Costco (they're always hit or miss with organic).

Tomorrow I'm teaching then the rest of the shopping at Whole Foods (who has a gift card for us to "give a significant discount for your cause!"), then prep with a bunch of girls at my parents' house (their kitchen is much bigger than mine).

And Sunday after church we'll start working on the rest of the cooking then serving it all up!  I feel pretty organized with the whole thing but it's the first time I've done something like this so there's a good dose of nervousness mixed in with the excitement.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Yikes, what an awful start to the day! I'm glad it's getting better Smile

My Friday is pretty fabulous. Other than the simple fact that it's Friday AND it's actually going pretty fast, we are headed out for a camping/tubing trip in the mountains this weekend. I'm so excited!!

    Happy Friday everyone!

  • Ooh, good luck this weekend, Millie! It sounds like it will be a huge success!
  • It's Friday, so in general it's fabulous! Big Smile

I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow!  My little brother's birthday party is Sunday, that will be fun, he's really excited.

  • Fabulous? Maybe. I quit my job yesterday as planned but then proceded to freak out a little. Today I will try to get focused on my new career and studying for the real estate exam. It's nice to be able to be on here with you girls (in my jammies) instead of at the bank. Cool

    Thanks!  I hope so!

  • Fabulous!  My co-teacher and I had a hands-on scientific experiment meeting this morning which was tons of fun. Then we were overstaffed at the center so we go to go shopping for our classrooms (our money though boo) and then we just got our classroom ready for next week so it was great! And we got out early!

  • Ups and downs this week.  Had sinus surgery last Friday which went really well.  On Monday, I went in to the doc and he pronounced me doing well.  He said I could do normal stuff as long as I didn't bounce, pick up anything that could smack me in the nose, or bounce.  No problem.

THEN, it all went to heck.  I had a meeting, and since it was a cool morning took my dogs thinking we would walk by the river after the meeting.  My 12 year old CASA client wanted to come, so off we went.  About a half mile in, I caught my foot on a stone and went down face first onto the stone.

Good news, I landed mouth open and teeth first.  Not a mark on my nose or recent surgery.  Bad news, I knocked out my left front tooth, and REALLY loosened 2 others.  Blood everywhere, although it didn't hurt.  Got back to my car, dropped off child, got to my dentist.  He put the tooth back in and cemented a bunch of wires to hold them all in.  I have maybe a 50% chance of keeping them...but it's worth a try.

So, my Friday is sitting around with clear plastic retainer coveres over my top and bottom teeth praying that it will all knit back to spend thousands of dollars on implants and bridges.

    Any T&P would be welcome....

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
