Send prayers to Chile

This story is just heart wrenching for me. I am hoping we can all send some prayers to help keep the Chilean miners strong until they can be rescued. I think I have mentioned that my father was a coal miner (35 years, now retired) and he took me into the mine once when I was in college. We were down 2,300 feet and I lasted about an hour before I had to come back up to the surface. It's an unbelievable place. I know that these men are used to this environment but to be stuck there for 4 months is truly unimagineable.

Please send prayers to these guys to help keep them sane! Keep the devil and bad thoughts out of that place.

Re: Send prayers to Chile

  • def praying for them! I couldn't even imagine!! It gives me the chills to even think about being stuck down in a mine for that long eeek.
  • Praying for the men in the mine in Chile and 4 months is a really long time.
  • I can't imagine.  I was thinking about some of the simple things we take for granted, like taking a shower/bath.  I know that there is a lot worse they will be dealing with but the thought of no shower for 4 months made me blanch.

I'm glad they're ok though- there have been too many news stories lately about mining accidents and stuff like that, that haven't turned out well.

I will definitely keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Lots of prayeRs going out to them. How awful!

Energy is big money. Let's not even get into the devastation in the Gulf but it's all the same thing. Greed. The tragic accidents in WV that happened a while back can be directly traced to lack of safety measures. They just don't are about these guys. Safety measures are expensive and there is a lot of money at the top ending up in the wrong pockets. It makes me sick. Luckily my father had a good position where his company took good care of him and a union who looked out for their well being. But I thank god every day that he is well and that he is done with that part of his life.

  • This story just breaks my heart...last I heard, they had not told the miners how long it would take...has this changed. Thoughts and prayers with them and their families!
