Weekend

K, here's my feeble attempt at waking this board up today:

How was everyone's weekend?

Everything I thought was going to happen this weekend fell through.

Friday we were supposed to go to the Reds game, come home and watch Mansfield Park (due from Netflix). Reality: I got a flat tire and we spent it at Tire Discounters, then the roomie, who doesn't spend weekends at home, had the mail key, so no retrieving the Netflix movie. Instead, I watched BF play video games all night, waiting for him to save and quit so we could watch a movie off the Instant queue, but it never happened and I passed out on the couch. Minor tiff, we got over it.

Saturday we were supposed to go to my parents' house... but we sat around and procrastinated for so long that I called it off. Roomie brought the dog he and his GF were watching for a friend for the weekend over, which wigged BF out since our landlords are vehemently anti-pet. Since the landlords also own the bar below us, BF spent all day paranoid that the dog would be seen. He wasn't. What he was, was SUPA cute. :D

Sunday I had hopes of going canoeing, but BF had the film peeps over for a meeting from 10-3. They filmed themselves telling embarassing stories, possibly for a doc piece of some sort, they're not sure yet. Knocked out grocery trip & laundry, joined forces with the roomie & his GF to make an awesome dinner & we all watched True Blood.

The end!

Re: Weekend

  • I'll play.

Friday everything went off without a hitch regarding watching the Red's game.

Saturday I went to a friends birthday and dealt with a sad friend because her husband was ditching her on her birthday for a UFC fight.

Sunday I got great news that my SIL had her baby. So I have an adorable nephew now. We went to visit at the hospital and everything went great and he is just a doll.

  • I'll play as well!

Friday we had friends over last minute and watched a movie and played some games. It made for a fun, but relaxing night.

Saturday we drove around town exploring. We found an estate and scored in the carnival and milk glass department. We also went to Hobby Lobby so I could get some stuff to work on a project for my husband.

Sunday we went with some friends to a local farm to pick apples and peaches. Later in the evening we went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Totally a great movie, especially if you love gaming or have a husband who does (like I do).

All in all it was a great weekend and we're really enjoying living in Ohio.

Where did you go to pick peaches and apples?  We always go to Rousters to get apples in the fall but they don't let you pick them.

  • Let's go ahead and sum up my weekend in 2 words: Food. Poisoning.

As in, from about Saturday afternoon to, um.....still kinda feeling the effects of it at the moment.

Ready for Labor Day weekend to be much better!!

Ditto! I'm dying to go apple picking!

  • Friday me, my husband, and all of our friends went to Joe's crab shack to celebrate my birthday...It was a great time! They made me ride around the whole restaurant on one of those kid horse pole things with a horse hat on my head. Totally embarrassing, but fun. Then we went to Shadowbox at Newport with our friends, which is always a great time.

Saturday: Ran around like crazy getting everything together to make our house perfect, then had our cookout/housewarming/birthday party. Turned out great and our house is looking awesome!

Sunday: Chilled out at home all day writing a paper about whether the U.S. should sell F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. (What fun...)

Had a great birthday weekend for the first time in years!!!

  • Friday I worked a little late, then ran some errands at two stores.  Went home, cleaned, ate dinner, did laundry, & read more of my chapter for class.

Saturday H & I got to have lunch w/ my bro, his wife, and our nephew.  It was a lot of fun & really nice.  We've had a rough year w/ family stuff going on and I realized how much I missed them all.  H had to go into work for the rest of the day, so I finished reading my chapter (was so glad to have that done!), folded & put away laundry, cleaned, and watched some movies.

Sunday we got to sleep in a little bit then had to go out to IL's for FIL's bday dinner.  Didn't end up getting home from there until really late so I had no time to get anything ready for work the next morning.

I would've liked to have gotten home earlier in the evening on Sunday so I could get stuff together for work the next morning and also just sit back and relax for a bit, oh well.  All in all, not too bad of a weekend.

We went to a farm called Tukens Orchard Farm Market. It's really cute and they have tons of apples to pick. On the top right of the page is a link to a graph that shows what apples will be ready to pick when you go. They were also dog friendly and let us bring our dog as long as he was well behaved around people.
