Where to shop? Food items for gift basket.
I'm going to assemble a gift basket of miscellaneous food items in a gift basket for my dad's birthday. I'm thinking popcorn, nuts, candies, pretzles, maybe some fresh produce, etc.
What is a good store to go shopping for this stuff? I was thinking maybe World Market or Kingma's. Any suggestions?

How far or how many places do you want to go?
Grand Rapids Popcorn Company is over on West River Dr. and they have a bunch of different flavors you can buy.
Martha's Vineyard has some really neat chocolate's.
I second this!
how about the market downtown

There is that place in Grandville in that little plaza behind D&W (now Family Fare). There is a Hallmark store there. The name of the place is on the tip of my tounge.
If you wanted to take a little drive, you could go there.

Are you thinking of the Gourmet Shop. I think it is called Pete Something Gourmet Foods. Something like that.
That is is, but I never knew of it as Peter Imports. I knew of it as deRuezes

The new produce market by my house, has a ton of pre-packaged bulk candy, nuts, etc. I don't know where they get it from though, I keep forgetting to check the package.

Thank you for reminding me about this place! It never occurred to me to check there, but obviously it's convenient for me.
I just went there on my lunch break and was able to pick up just about everything I need.
The downside though is that I wasn't so smart as to wear shoes today that allow me to comfortably walk that far. Owwwww...
