Boudoir photos for the hubs?

I'm a newbie to the knot. First time poster. Just wondering if any of you have gotten boudoir photography done? How it went, if he liked it, was it worth the money.... Just wondering. I'm thinking for his birthday or anniversary.

Re: Boudoir photos for the hubs?

  • I've been losing weight and I would love to as soon as I get down to my goal weight. I think it's a great thing to do!
  • that's exactly what I want to do. My H and I both could stand to lose so I'm hoping that little treat will be motivation for us both.
  • I did them as my wedding gift to DH and it was worth every penny. It's a great gift for your H but also for you as well because it's so much fun and a great confidence booster.
  • i didnt realize how many people do this until after my wedding! i was thinking of doing it for my year anniversary coming up next month but chickened out b.c i have been feeling unattractive and "frumpy" lately.

i think they are a great idea! if i get up the nerve to take the pics i think i will feel so confident, beautiful, and proud that i went through with them. and my husband will be happy too :)

  • I had them done for his wedding gift. I am sooo happy that I had them taken. I know after I have kids I am going to love looking at them. If any of you are in the Atlanta area. I used ddkportriats. Her name is Kirsten and she is great!!!  Google her and some of my pics are on there. Im the blonde one.

  • I went to your blog, thinking there'd be photos, but instead saw your burn photos.

I hope you'll be all right.  Will you need surgery?

What an awful thing.  I didn't look too much, because I felt sick just glancing at them, but that must be a horrible thing to go through.

At least you have pictures from before you were burned.

God Bless, and good luck to you.

  • I'll be doing them as an anniversary gift for H. I'm looking forward to having them done.

  • If you want to have them taken for yourself, that's great.  But make no mistake about who the photo shoot is really for.  The person who benefits most from the photos is the woman having them taken.  It's good for the self esteem and you get a bunch of pretty pictures of yourself at the peak of your physical appearance.  Having them done under the guise of a gift for your H seems a little narcissistic.

Have them done because you want them done, not for your H.

    Uuummm......ok......

I just recently did a shoot on Sunday for my DH (and yes it WAS for my H) for our first anniversary. He travels and likes to take pictures with him while he's on the road. I also thought it was a cute idea because of the first anniversary being the "paper anniversary" and hey pictures are a form of paper!

    Nothing narcissistic about it.

ETA: "It" being the situation I just described

  • Actually, JustDuckyDancer and PastryPuff9000 are both right.

I got boudoir photos done for my DH ( I knew the photographer and he'd never done them before, so he wanted to try his hand at them and gave them to me for free) and myself. I'm only going to be this age once, so I might as well preserve it on paper. And dare I say it, I looked really, really good. DH loved them too. So I have to say, your boudoir photos will be for the both of you, not just one person.

    I agree with this 100%.

Also please think twice before posting them online. That completely eliminates the guise of them being for the DH.

  • DH asked for them as a wedding present and I delivered.

My wedding photographer knew that I was interested in them.  We worked out a great price because she'd only done one boudoir shoot before mine.  She came over to our apartment and took the pictures. Some of the poses were a bit awkward, but they're only held for a minute or so. Then a week later I picked my favorites and she sent over the album.

The experience was really good.  I was nervous that the pictures would look really stupid, but when they came in they were so pretty!  I'd lost 43 pounds (I still have about 15 more to go) and I was still in that "fat person" mindset.  These pictures really showed me how different I really looked.  Such a boost to my self esteem!  I'm still chubby/flabby, but those pictures make me feel so pretty!

When DH received the album he got all teary eyed.  He gave me a huge hug and kiss, said that I was so brave and asked if he could show his friends.  Since some are on the internet (I OKed it with him first) I said he could do whatever he liked with them.

  • Please do the boudoir photos for yourself and your hubby! You will feel great and it is a super confidence booster. If you have a good photographer you'll have a great experience and they know how to shoot your best angles. Google my photog Tabitha McCausland and you'll see how great they can be.

  • I'm usually a lurker, but I must say I really enjoyed everything about doing the pics as a wedding gift for my H. It felt great to be sexy and sneaky. He had no idea and I was able to get his firefighting gear from where he used to volunteer (he is now a career firefighter and emt). Needless to say he was completely and totally shocked when I gave him a little black book filled with bpics. He absolutely loves it and I've caught him looking at it multiple times, haha. =)

  • I took these pictures for my husband's wedding gift. I wasn't comfortable with getting totally nude but I did do some in my bra and undies. They came out great! They were very classy for what they were. I gave them to him the night before our wedding and he loved them! The only thing I was worried about if anyone else saw them, but my husband is totally cool about keeping them hidden and only for him :)
