Is this something employers usually do right before making an offer or something to help them 'decide' between a few candidates?
I interviewed a week ago for a position I REALLY want (:-) ) and I just found out Friday and Today they have been contacting references. Just curious on what the 'norm' is?
Re: Calling References...
I'm not in HR but I can tell you that everytime I know my references have been called, I've gotten the job offer. This leads me to believe they only call when they are ready to make an offer, maybe just as a confirmation of that you're the right candidate.
Good luck, I hope you get the offer!
As a supervisor, calling references was the last thing I did before a job offer. I don't have time to call references of 10 people that I may interview.
This is a good sign!
