new last name!
During my lunch hour today, I?m finally going to officially change my last name! I?m making the trip to the Social Security Office. I only have an hour or so to get this done, so I hope that it?s not crowded in there.
I just realized that I?d been putting it off. I?m not sure why that was because I didn?t think I was really attached to my last name. But now that the time is here, I?m kind of nervous about it...but I?m positive I?ll get over it as soon as everything is completed. J
Was anyone else a little nervous when you changed your last name?

Re: new last name!
I don't think I was nervous, I just switched back and forth between little twinges of guilt (sorry Dad's family!) and feeling that it was kind of unreal.
Eventually I realized that I have no professional ties to my maiden name and nobody, not even DH, cared if I changed my last name to Bananahammock, so I got over it.
I like my new last name, and I hope you enjoy being Mrs. NewLastName!

I'm not nervous, more sad. This has been the biggest decision of the entire wedding process, and I just decided to change my name 2 months ago, so I've been mourning Kristen CurrentLastName... but more recently I've had twinges of excited about being more of a unit with the same last name. I have a deadline of october 2011 to change my name so hopefully I'll be more excited in the near future.

I've changed my name legally, but all of our utility bills (and Paypal) still have my old name...it's only almost been a year...no hurries!
I like my new last name because my first name and last name now rhyme...but very few people pronounce my new last name correctly. DH told me long ago to just get used to it. So in that aspect I miss my old last name...you had to be awfully dumb to mispronounce my maiden name!
Hope everything goes smoothly (aka "quickly") for you at the SS office! In Indy I couldn't go to the DMV until the day after the trip to the SS office...I didn't know that...of course I had an awesome hair-day on day #1...not so much on day #2!
