Hi I have been on the pill for 10-11 years and am considering going off b/c i think the negative side effects (mood changes, low sex drive, etc) are finally catching up to me. We are not quite ready to start trying for a baby but will be in the next 7-9 months or so. I keep reading up on natural family planning. Maybe I am naive or maybe birth control and "safe sex" methods have been drilled into my head but I am just learning about this option now. Does anyone have any good resources on this (a quick read or website would be nice)?
Also, is it better to talk to my obgyn before going off the pill or is it ok to just stop? (probably a dumb question..sorry)
Re: NFP resources
I don't know that much about NFP, but your post inspired me to get the scoop on it...
I guess it's a Catholic thing, which I didn't know? I doubt everyone who uses it does it for faith-based reasons, but most Google results are Christian/Catholic websites, which I wouldn't advise getting health info from (no offense).
PP is pretty reliable, I'm learning a lot on this page:

And I've never been on the pill, but my guess is you'll want to get your doctor's advice on how to stop. Can't hurt, anyway.
Take a NFP class from a teaching couple thru www.ccli.org . Yes, it is based on Catholic teaching, but you don't have to be Catholic (or Christian for that matter) to take the classes.
You can also learn a cm only based method called Creighton Method from a teacher as well

This! It took us awhile to get pregnant. I read this book and used this website, and now I know my body sooo well, I know exactly when I'm ovulating, when I'm going to start my period etc... just by the signs. I don't even need to take my temp. anymore. We use condoms around ovulation, but otherwise, we don't use anything. And it's so nice to be off hormonal BC. They never agreed with me.
