So D and I just bought our first house...closed June 18th! But I am still in the process of decorating. Between work and D being gone all summer it has been a very slow process.
Anywho...we have a small entry hall/landing area just inside our front door. I need something to put on the wall and then under whatever is on the wall. You know...somewhere to put my purse and D to put his wallet. We already have keys hooks up so nothing for that. Problem is it is only a 6x6 foot area, front door on one wall, stairs on another, and then garage door on the 3rd wall. So only one area to decorate. Another problems is we keep the dog kennel down there so it is a quick exit for the boys to get outside when I have been gone on a 14+ hour shift.
I have a small area rug (sorry no pics) and it is red, black, cream, yellow and khaki. Walls are a darker yellow color...suggestions?
Prince Charming stole my heart and we rode off on his white horse...

Re: Decorators...please come in!
It won't let me save pictures but at Pier One there is this black console table... http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/Furniture/Furniture/tabid/519/CategoryID/156/List/0/Level/a/ProductID/3299/ProductName/Anywhere-Console-Table--Black/Default.aspx
I would suggest a mirror for the statement piece you put above it. It will help open up the small space (and you can check yourself out before you head out the door haha). I would flank it with two sconces (but that's my style.) Like these... http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/HomeAccentsD?cor/HomeAccentsD?cor/tabid/508/CategoryID/134/List/0/catpageindex/9/Level/a/ProductID/4049/ProductName/Scroll-Cut-Out-Sconce/Default.aspx
HTH!

This would be a similar table: http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/Furniture/Furniture/tabid/519/CategoryID/156/List/0/Level/a/ProductID/3298/ProductName/Anywhere-Console-Table--Brown/Default.aspx
I like this mirror alright, it's a little busy but if you toned it down with simple accessories it would be good!

A potted flower:

I also love the idea of putting a piece of framed art with a small lantern from PB...they're so pretty and you can put whatever in them depending on the season. (small pumpkins and a candle, red berries with some pine cones, etc.)

Throw some old books from an antique mall on the other side and you're good. I'd probably stack a couple at an angle next to each other. I might also put a lamp on the entry table too next to the hung mirror.
my bookshelf!

JLim...LOVE the table! I think that would look great in the space! I just have to make sure my garage entry door would clear it if it was centered on the wall!
Brit- Love the idea of books stacked and possilby a potted plant on top of that. And of course a mirror.
Gingy- Calm down sister! I am trying to finish decorating it first before I expose anyone to our home! It is a disaster still! But they will be coming soon to FB!
