I am not athletically inclined at all. Like, not even a little bit. I have tripped over AIR on more than one occasion.
So today one of the kids hands me a volleyball and wants me to shoot a basket with it in the gym (who am I to argue about the appropriate sports equipment?). He was REALLY excited about the prospect of me making this basket, which made me feel an irrational amount of pressure, and I think my palms got a little sweaty. At this point all of the kids have gathered around and are giggling in anticipation of me making this shot. And then I made it (from like 3 feet from the basket, but whatevs, it was a satisfying SWISH sound all the same)
But now for the best part. The kids all cheered and clapped, and the one who asked me to shoot the basket literally squealed with joy and then exclaimed at the top of his lungs "Yeah! Yay Ms. Shamwow you saved the day!"
I'm really impressive to 4 year olds.
Re: I love kids
You saved the day! Just think about what might have happened if you missed. That little boy could have dropped dead on the spot.
Your job sounds like fun.

Aww, cute story.
But now I'm nervous for my first day of school tomorrow. Despite being almost 6 feet tall, I'm not very good at basketball. I hope nobody is depending on me to save the day with my athletic skills.

Aw, so cute! You are an awesome teacher.
I'm pretty sure whenever Heith taught gym he would just walk around yelling "Quiet down you little jackals!"
He's a good teacher too..in his own way.
