They did surgery last Thursday night. They got all the clot and the bleeding has stopped. Before the surgery we were told he may have to be on a vent for weeks or months. And even then it is possible he may never wake up again. Well, the vent was taken off Friday morning. That was great news, but he has been sedated since then. They did ween him off for a bit a few evenings ago and he was able to open his eyes and squeeze my mom's hand. I wasn't there when that happened and they had to put him back under. Today he was awake again and said "Dam*n it!" a couple times. That is a good sign. But, by the time my mom left he was back under. They have had to put the cPap on him a couple nights due to his sleep apnea.
Overall things are looking good. I hope he can keep his strength up though. He is only 72 years old, but he has a lot of health problems arleady. COPD, diabetes, and of course he is dealing with pneumonia now.
Thanks for all the prayers, girls.
