s/o pitt bull

There was another pit bull attack on the East side of the state yesterday. This time on a 4 day old newborn.  Crying

This breaks my heart. Luckily it didn't turn out worse than what it was.

Not laying blame in the breed or the dog, since I don't know all the details.

Re: s/o pitt bull

  • sounds like the dog was used to playing with toys/dolls and probably thought it was toy.
  • Whoa, there are two vicious pitties on the loose in Westland? That's where I'm traveling today to visit my uncle and his girlfriend.

  • So sad.  A least it sounds like one tooth puncture instead of a mauling.  And this could have happened with ANY dog.  ALOT dogs do not see newborns/babies as humans.  Another reason a baby should NEVER be left alone with even the best behaved dog.  Majority of the time the dogs aren't trying to hurt the baby, they want to play (and I've heard argument they are trying to comfort the baby).

  • I didn't read the original post... but I think most of it is a dogs training...  BUT, I would never get a pit bull, or let my kids play by one...

I totally agree with this!!  We have a pit mix and a big 85lb lab.  Both of which are - by my opinion - the sweetest dogs I've ever met.  However, I would never, ever, ever leave ANY dog alone with a baby, doesn't matter the breed.

We've got a toddler and a little one on the way.  We've never had an issue with either dog with my son.  That being said, we never leave him alone with the dogs and don't plan to in the future.
