Auto and Home insurance recommendations

Hey ladies

Recommend your auto or home insurance agents/companies.  I currently have a auto and home insurance policy with State Farm and my auto insurance premiums increased (my statement mentioned something about how one of my discounts decreased)

TIA

Re: Auto and Home insurance recommendations

  • We use Corporate 4 Insurance Agency-

They do all the work for you :)

  • I'd highly recommend Ben Bina with American family. We have had nothing but great experiences so far. We've had claims on both our house and car and they have always taken care of everything for us.

  • I use Traveler's for my house and Progressive for my car.  I've had only one claim on each and both companies were really fast.  My car had gotten broken into at the dog park near home - nothing stolen since I had emptied out my car before leaving thank goodnesss- but the did some major glass damage.  That little glass premium paid for itself many times over with that one!

As for my house, We got grafitti'd over Memorial Day weekend while we were out of town and I knew I wouldn't touch my deductible but submitted the damage to insurance anyway.  They had an adjuster out the same day I called and their estimate was more than I had hoped for.  Figured it would help if I had a tree fall on my garage or something and they'd pay up that much more quickly.  I was really impressed.

  • I use Allstate. Sue Challenger in Lakeville. She is awesome. I've been using her for over 15 years and she's always given me the best discounts and had the best prices. And I've shopped around quite a bit.

Funny enough, I work for one of the companies listed above (think red umbrella) and I've gotten quotes from them and they are more expensive (by A LOT) than what I pay with Allstate, even with employee discounts.

ETA: Sue's number if you are interested is 952-898-1400.

  • We use Country, we have had them for about 4 years, and although we like them, I just turned 25 so we were expecting a big decrease and ours went up. When I called the lady was very rude (our agent was there anymore) and said that ALL insurance premiums went up so we should be glad ours only went up a little bit.
  • We also used Ben Bina with American Family up until a couple of months ago. We loved the agency but the rates were very high. We now have Met Life and are paying $150 less a month for our car insurance. And we also switched our homeowners which covers our septic!

  • We've had good luck with Advisornet P&C.  They are independent and evaluated our current insurance against a ton of other companies.  We had been under-insured and they were able to increase our coverage with a decrease in our premium.  http://www.advisornetpc.com/
  • We use John Ivance for both home and auto insurance.  He's an indepedent agent but goes through progressive for auto insurance.  We have great rates for both.

  • We also used Ben Bina with American Family until about four months ago.  Great guy, great service. My husband used him for a number of used before we were married and we stuck with him. However, his rates (or American's rates) were really high.  We ran quotes with a few companies and they all came back significantly lower ($400 +).  We are now through AAA.  No experience with them other than lower rates since we haven't had to file any claims.

Ben is a great guy though---when we told him we were switching, he said he understood and he unfortunately couldn't do anything do to American's rates.  He did say that he would love the opportunity to re-quote us in the future to see if rates would lower eventually.

  • We have Liberty Mutual for home and auto.  I've been very, very happy with their service through three auto claims (one accident DH's fault, one where they handled it for me when it was someone else's fault and got my deductible back, and one medical claim where I was a passenger in someone else's car in an accident).  Their customer service is phenomenal.

That said another local nestie's dad (nestie:twobecameone) owns an independent insurance agency (shopping multiple companies).  I called him for quotes when our home and auto policies were renewing, and I really liked him.  He was honest that he couldn't beat our auto insurance rates and told me it was better to keep my policies bundled with our current company rather than switch to him at this point.  I thought the honest was so nice, and I definitely recommend him.

  • We?re getting our OH auto insurance from The Hartford for so many years now. They handle claims really well, so I haven?t really gone around shopping for rates. The home and car insurance together gets us a much lower price I believe.
  • We've been with Liberty Mutual since February. So far, so good. My only complaint is that they discriminate against certain breeds of dogs. We had to jump through hoops to get a policy that would cover our home because our dog is part rottweiler (he's a lab/rott mix).

We had AAA before that and it was nothing but bad service. It was a complete nightmare. I have never dealt with such incompetence. Even when we canceled our policies, they still couldn't get our address correct and sent the cancellation notices to an old address. We put up with the terrible service much longer than we should have, but the AAA rates were so low and we didn't think anyone could match them. Turns out Liberty Mutual has very comparable rates, better in fact.
