Interviewing Questions

Does anyone have any good interviewing questions to ask when you go in for an interview? I hate that when they ask you if you have any questions and I'm searching for something to ask, lol. Thanks ladies

Re: Interviewing Questions

  • I would definitely peruse the companies website before your interview, I'm sure you can find some more specific questions that way.  Here are some other questions you can ask the person who is interviewing you:

Why do you like working for this company?

Where does this company see itself in 5 - 10 years?

    Good luck at your interview!!

  • I haven't been around much and I missed that you were looking for jobs.  Good luck at your interview!

  • Since I've been at my job for so long I don't have much advice because I don't have lots of interview experience - but I wanted to wish you luck!

  • I like both of Natalie's questions.

I also like to ask something about how training works and what the set-up is for day to day work.  Will I be working in a team or on my own?  Stuff like that.

    Good luck!

  • I don't know what kind of job you're applying for - but I ask what kinds of statistical methods and software they use. My current job I asked if the economy was affecting the number of contracts available (we are contractors and bill hours to specific projects, so this is important). Also the amount of travel involved.

  • There's a website with sample questions, but I can't find it. Here are some I remember reading.Clearly do not ask these word for word, they are just quick samples.

    Is this a new position?

What is a typical day/week like?

What is your favorite part of working here?

What are the next steps (some question about what's next in the process)?

What is the companies management style?

Are there any other questions I can answer for you?

How many people work in the department?

    Is travel/overtime expected?

    What's the availability for growth/advancement?

If offered the position, when would you want me to start?

  • Here are 2 I asked in my last interview...

Describe your ideal "insert job here"?

What software/operating system does your company use?

I may have worded more eloquently then...

  • Good luck Lisa!!!

I always am thrown off by that question as well... maybe turn the tables and ask them why they enjoy working there?!! (depends on how comfortable the interview is ;) Or I like the idea of where do you see the company in 5-10 years... shows you are thinking long term!

  • This is a scary question to ask, but I always like to get an idea where I stand.  If you're up for it ask them if there's anything that would disqualify you for the position.  Good luck!  I hope you get it!
