For those with BOTB...

Yesterday I was reading someone's blog who is expecting and they were talking about cloth diapers (CDs).  So I was intrigued and started doing some research.....so many options out there.  And it is definitely different then the cloth diapers I was raised in.

So....I told DH yesterday when we get to that point I want to use CDs.  He was in totally agreement with me!!  Surprise

Just wondering if you have done any research on these and what are your opinions on the subject?

  • I have heard great things about cloth diapers from some of my friends, I'll definitely do the research when it's time :P

  • I've read up on this a little bit. I will probably wait and do more research when we start trying...DH won't care....he already told me that he does not want to touch a diaper....

haha my hubby too - i would assume that his answer would be that as long as i'm changing them, he's not too concerned what they are made of.

that's interesting though - i would imagine this will emerge as a trend as everyone is more aware of the environment.  and it's probably cheaper!

  • I really like the idea and I know it has so many positive points....the main negative for me is that I'm lazy and I totally admit that. But I do plan on looking into it more when the time comes...
  • I haven't looked into this yet, I'm trying to not put the cart before the horse; although I admit I may have passed some downtime at work looking at pictures of nurseries (just like I may have looked at pictures of wedding gowns before I was engaged Wink).

I've been hearing a lot about cloth diapers and the fact that disposables have chemicals, etc. But I know some day care centers will only do disposables which could be an issue. I could see us doing a bit of both, cloth diapers at home and disposables when out.

This will be one of about 10 zillion things to research when (if?) I get my BFP.

  • Hmmm... haven't thought about this in a while (though I did look into it a long time ago).  I'm totally into the idea of cloth diapers, but since I don't presently have my own washer and dryer, I wonder if that will make it a huge pain in the butt.  Would love to find a way to make it work.

I like Lori's idea of cloth at home/disposable at daycare, as daycare will be necessary (though I love the idea of being a SAHM for a while... just don't think we can afford it, even as expensive as daycare is around here).

But yeah, just give me the BFP first... Big Smile

  • Oh my gosh, I can not say enough wonderful things about cloth diapering!!!!  I am a 100% supporter of cloth diapering.  It is better for the baby, the environment and your wallet!  There are so many pro's that to me personally, the few con's there are don't even make me bat an eye!!!
I want to write them on here, but my post would be SO long.  Instead I'll send you over to the website for HappiBunz.  It's a cloth diapering business based in Las Vegas that my sister and brother in law own.  We're all big supporters in this family!  On their site they have some good information!

Most people that I talk to are pleasantly surprised with how easy it is nowadays!  It is a little more work, as you are changing diapers more frequently.  But I think that is a good thing...why would you want your baby sitting in their own filth and chemicals for any length of time???

    Feel free to PM me!
