How do you wash baseball hats?
DH has a baseball hat that is getting kind of filthy. He doesn't want to put it in the washing machine because he says it will break the bill. He suggested putting it in the dishwasher?? (Without any dishes, of course.) How do you wash hats? Would putting it in the dishwasher work? That seems a little weird to me.
Thanks!

Re: How do you wash baseball hats?
Oh PLEASE don't put it in the dishwasher! The chemicals in there are not made for fabric, and could possibly ruin the hat forever.
My grandfather used to be a professional baseball player, and he taught us to wash our hats in the washing machine with cold water in a hat rack/washer. Air dry. Here is a link to a hat rack very similar to the one we use:

I have to wash Hs farm hats all of the time (weekly at least) and I just throw them in the wash. I haven't broken one yet.
I've heard the dishwasher trick but never personally tried.
