Had an interview. Brought back in for second interview third week of August. Followed up with a thank you, was told that they would be contacting me with next steps.
A few days passed, I emailed a follow-up. Interviewer apologized for not getting back in touch, been extremely busy etc. Stated she would be contacting me soon. I thanked her and have been waiting to hear from her for about a week.
When do I reach out again? Do I? I just hate feeling like I'm in limbo. I don't want to be a nuisance, but I also want to convey that I am REALLY interested in the position and don't want them to overlook me. Halp!
I was planning on reaching out after the holiday. Thoughts?

Don't worry, I'm working on it.

I hear you! I would be too. I am right now, but it's only been three days since my second interview. I am supposed to get an answer this week, so I'm wondering if it'll be today or tomorrow, and obsessively checking my cell phone...like after every bathroom break and meeting!
I would wait. I'm an HR professional, and so all day I get calls from people "checking the status" and it really is annoying. If the interviewer said she'd been busy, odds are she probably has. Give it a little more time, because at this point you have reached out enough. if they want to move forward with you, they will contact you.
I know it sucks, but people constantly reaching out are seen as a nuisance to many interviewers and hiring managers, or rather pretty anyone who has to deal with applicants on a constant basis.

Is the interviewer a recruiter/HR who doesn't care who you are but trying to fill a req, an interviewer who may or may not be in a position to hire, or the actual hiring manager? As an "interviewer" I can tell you that I'm in no position to hire, but I'm not going to tell that to perspective employees. Whether or not it's a nuisance is irrelevant-I'm not the hiring manager. Make sure you're reaching out to the right person.
Also, you were interviewed in the 3rd week of August??? There could not be a worse time-I don't know when school starts where you live, but last week and especially this week are probably the most popular weeks to take summer vacation. He/she is probably busy with trying to go on vacation, coming back from vacation, or preparing for Labor Day holiday and kids going back to school. It's also the end of the month, so there's reporting to think of as well. Give them some time to respond. If they don't respond by next Friday I would try to touch base.
