Babywearing post

I got a Beco Gemini yesterday. I love it already. It's great for Maggie too, I tried her in the back carry and she was super light and easy to carry.

Re: Babywearing post

  • I love my ergo. I think the beco and ergo are pretty similar. I have not tried back carry yet, but I am glad to hear it is easy to carry a larger child. I really don't feel Ryker's weight on me the way it sits on my hips.

  • The nice thing about the Gemini is the outward facing carry. I have o in now facing out while Maggie plays outside and he loves looking around and watching her.

  • oh that's nice. I don't have that with the ergo, but we have 2 other carries that do outward facing.
  • I can't wait for Ethan to be able to do outward facing. He's got pretty good head control, but I'm waiting a bit longer just to be safe. He loves looking around, and I think he'll be less inclined to go to sleep outward facing.

  • Nice. I just got a woven, which I'm enjoying... but I've used a Mei Tai since Gwen was born and its great to have the hands free.

  • It's such a shame that we will all eventually kill our children since we obviously are doing it wrong.
  • Sean LOVES outward facing. He kicks and giggles and has a grand ol' time.

  • I just got the Baby Hawk Oh Snap. It is awesome. I even wore B on an 8km hike a few weeks ago.
  • Ian was never a fan of being worn.  He did better outward facing, but was just too squirmy.

We have a bjourn, so clearly baby poo is going to grow up to kill people.

My H has a belle organic which is a lot like a bjourn. He sewed rock n roll patches on it like Ace Frehely, Tool, and NIN, so clearly my child will become a school shooter.

  • Oh no, we had a Bjorn.  Are Bjorns bad?
  • Maybe they will meet over the internet and plan their mass school killings together.

  • We have a bjorn for Zane. I like to think it's balanced by my special organic granola wrap.

  • Outward facing, eh?

I suppose if that's what you want for your child.  To each their own.  I would just never face my child away from me because I will love them enough to look them in the eyes.

  • I find the use of carriers in general so informal.  I'll love my babies enough to carry them in my arms.  Women have been doing it that way for generations, after all.

  • I tried stuffing him back in the birth canal to carry him in the most natural way but he's too big.

That's not what I heard. I heard there was plenty of room.

  • Is that what Mr. Winged told you? Man, you guys do talk about everything.

  • When I bought my Oh Snap they told me that babies should never ever ever be carried outward facing. It is the devil apparently.

  • So if my kid cries if we hold him facing us because he wants to face out and see, it's already too late, right? He's clearly headed down the path towards serial killer land.

  • Are you sure he hasn't already killed?

  • Will haaaaaaaated being worn, but I should try with Evie. She likes being held and cuddled, she'd probably be in to it.

  • Alison hated being worn when she was little, but then one day she really liked it, but I had to monkey around with different types of carriers to get to that point. As a result, now I have 5 kinds and only use 2. Embarrassed The two winners are Ergo and a ring sling. it's a damn good thing most of them were gifts.

She likes outward facing in the sling, and I can only imagine she is plotting to enslave humanity when she's in there.

    image
  • Maggie only likes to be outward facing now unless I'm nursing her in the carrier.

  • Seriously Tara, breastfeeding achievement ribbons?

Regarding babywearing, now that we can do a hip carry, I love my ring sling again. The ergo is comfy, but she's just not a fan of facing in and being smushed against me.  She loves to crotch dangle.

I'm flying with her to Dallas by myself in October and trying to figure out which one I want to use.
