Happy Friday!

I took vacation today, so I get a 4 day weekend. Thank goodness. I need it.

Anybody have any plans for the holiday weekend?

We were supposed to go to the WVU game Saturday and stay in Morgantown that night, but we are just kind of playing that by ear now. After my post yesterday (or the day before) about my papaw doing better, he took a turn for the worse yesterday. They called all the family in and said he only had a few hours left because his lungs were giving out, but he is still going, for now. So, we will probably spend a lot of time at the hospital.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer!

Have a great and safe Labor Day weekend, girls!

Re: Happy Friday!

  • Sorry to hear about the sad news Kaley :(

DH broke into a full body rash/hives this week and has been miserable.  We went to the dermatologist yesterday and found out he's allergic to one of the medicines he took for his wisdom teeth surgery 2 weeks ago, and it's an allergic reaction.  Unfortunately it's going to take up to three weeks to heal.  So that's oral surgery followed by recovery followed by an allergic reaction.  It's been a rough two weeks, and I'm looking forward to some rest this weekend.

  • Sorry to hear about your papaw Kaley. Keeping your family in my t&p.

The only thing we have planned for this weekend is a party at a friend's house tomorrow. Looking forward to spending time with DH & A.

  • Sorry Kaley.  T&P for you and your family!

Not much really planned; I'm still having dizzy spells so I will try to take it easy.  Depending on Earl, we may try to go to the shore for the day.

This happened to me a few years ago and I would not wish it on anyone.  Hopefully they gave him something to relieve the itching.

DH has to work this weekend so we are not doing much.

They gave him a steroid shot in the bum and a cream to help the itching.  I was nervous for him about the shot, but he's in so much pain, he was practically begging for it.

  • kaley, so sorry. :(

steph, I hope your hubs gets better soon.

I don't have much planned for the weekend. Just my bff's annual bonfire party.

  • We are heading to a wedding. But it's at 11am so I am hoping DH takes me to the nearby outlets after that ;)

  • Steph - The steroid will definitely help.  I was given prednisone to take for 2 weeks and it helped so much.  I was also running like a maniac and eating everything in site at that time but the rash was gone!

    Thanks Mames.

That's good to know!  I can't wait for him to start feeling better.  I've been taking care of the hubs so much in the middle of the night, it made me think it's similar to having a baby.  But, DH puts himself back to bed, so I think this is still easier.

  • Tonight, I'm going out with some friends to see our fave 80s cover band (DH is working). Tomorrow, we're meeting my parents for a small town's Market Days (yay!) and then a quick bbq lunch before heading back home for about 10 hours of football. Sunday I get to vege all day while DH works and Monday we're sleeping in! We just haven't told Rufus yet.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I'm hoping this weekend turns out more relaxing than it sounds...

Tonight - I'm baking, DH doesnt get home from Texas until about 10:30 pm.

Tomorrow - tailgating/going to the UofL vs UK game

Sunday - Delivering a couple cake orders and hopefully going boating but it might actually be too cold so not sure yet.

Monday - family BBQ/picnik in Richmond - its like an hour away at DH's step-grandpa's daughter's house.  I've never even met the woman, I have no idea why we have to go but his parents are making us attend.  I'm irritated and still considering feigning an illness.

  • This weekend is basically just trying to get a first full draft of this grant application done. It might not happen though, because a friend is having a cookout tomorrow afternoon and my Mom is coming into town on Sunday morning and staying through Monday evening. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

  • I spent all day today making card kits for a class I'm teaching to raise money for my 3-Day team. We made 15 kits with pieces for 5 cards in each. With two of us working, it took from 9:00-5:00. *whew*

Tomorrow morning DH and I are headed to a farmers' market since our CSA doesn't do pick ups on holiday weekends (sad/lame). Then I'm spending the entire weekend working on my thesis. I owe my chair a draft by Tuesday at 1:30, and I'm hoping she'll say "okay!" to my timeline (I want to defend on or before November 18th since the 3-Day is the 19th -- I want to walk knowing I'm "done" with grad school!).
