Re: laser hair removal
Hmm...that is what I am afraid of. I have a consultation on Thursday. I don't want to wax anymore. I don't want to spend all the money on laser hair removal though and still have to wax. Maybe I will post over there....
I had a Brazilian laser hair removal and underarm hair removal done five years ago. (This involved getting on all fours which, as you can imagine, was vastly entertaining for everyone involved.) I didn't find it particularly painful, but my sister is currently having it done and either her tolerance for pain is lower than mine, or her lasers are stronger (she's tanner than I am) because it's painful for her.
For me it was extremely effective. I have maybe 10 or so hairs that are stragglers in the bikini area that I just shave off, and one or two stragglers on my right underarm that I also shave off. I'm being literal here. Fewer than fifteen hairs all told remain, and it took them a few years to show up. My sister is finding it slightly less effective, although she's still pretty pleased.
I am so so so SO happy I did this. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made.
I'm very fair with dark hair, though. From what I understand this is the skin tone/hair color combination that typically sees the best results since it's easy for the laser to target the root.
I do recommend that you go with a place that offers the procedure for a price, rather than the number of sessions for a price. I had a session every ten weeks for the first year, and then again for the second year if I needed it. I moved out of the area for the second year, so I never proceeded with it. However if I wanted to go back and have the few stragglers that I do still have zapped, I will never have to pay more than 10% of the original amount I paid to do so.
It's my understanding that some women do see some re-growth if they get pregnant and/or when they go through menopause, so I don't plan on going back unless I find the need to after either or both. Right now it's very manageable.
I am going for a consultation at medsleekspa tomorrow...I'll let you know how it goes.
oh gosh see this is what I am afraid of. Did you have unlimited visits?
...hello out there!

Nope, I didn't have unlimited visits. It was supposed to be 5 visits, I think, but then I had a 1 year no-hair-guarantee, so that's why they kept having me come back. When I initially started they used a laser machine that hurt like h%ll. Then they switched to an IPL machine. From what I read at the time, IPL is not as powerul. Who knows. But I'll never waste my money on it again! Hope it works for you!
Thanks. I am still on the fence about it. I had not realized prior to the consultation that it took so very long to complete.
