Poll: Wedding Ring

I'm bored and I just picked up my wedding ring from the jewelers so I figured I'd do a little survey.

Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when?

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc?

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it?

Re: Poll: Wedding Ring

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take my rings off when I sleep and shower. And then any time I'm doing any major cleaning or anything like that.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? Yes a little. I'm trying not to be because I know that inevitably it's going to get scratched and stuff, but since it's so new I'd rather it still look new!

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? Eh, who knows. Hopefully I never get so relaxed that I don't care, but I'm sure that I'll soon become less and less super cautious and worried. I just got my ring back from being fixed...there were about 8 small chips in the band near the diamonds. All but 2 of the chips are gone and I'm trying not to stress about the 2 remaining ones. As long as my diamonds are ok and not in danger of falling out...

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take my rings off when I shower, apply lotion, do any heavy cleaning, baking or dirty work. When I'm at work I always wear gloves.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? Yes and no, scratches are going to happen but I take them off if I'm doing something that could damage my ring

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? Not to sure, like PP I want it to look new for as long as possible

If so, when? only when i wash my hair. with all the scrubbing and the running my fingers through my soapy hair i'm afraid they will slip right off! Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? not reallyHow long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? now? i guess? haha

  • Do you take off your ring(s)?  If so, when? Only when cleaning with harsh chemicals.  They fit really well over my bony knuckes so I never worry about them slipping off.  If I were to ever go rock climbing in the cracks up here again, though, I wouldn't want to risk my hand getting stuck.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? No.  The diamond....well, it's the hardest mineral on the planet.  The band--scratches give it character, and a good polishing usually takes care of it.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? I never really worried about it.

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? only when im cooking & need to grind up some hamburger or something messy.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? not really, its very sturdy. (he knew how clumsy i am) hehehe

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it?im already over it :)

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take off my e-ring to shower, but I leave the band on. It's just slightly smaller and it's really hard to get off and on.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? No, not really. I got my e ring redipped just before the wedding, and it really polished up nicely, so I'm not that concerned.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? haha I guess now. But I'm definitely still worried about getting mugged, so hopefully that will pass quickly.
  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take it off for work. Gloves will ruin the diamonds, also constantly washing my hands is harsh on it.Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? not really, such is lifeHow long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? n/a

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when?  I take my e-ring off sometimes, depending on what I am doing.  I tend to keep my band on.  I take both off if I am cleaning. Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc?  Nope, I do not worry about it. How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it?   Not worried now, so I am good.

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? Not often, only when doing pretty heavy duty cleaning...it doesn't come off easily.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? I wasn't but, I'm starting to worry because they are a set and the ering is super scratched and kind of discolored compared to the band.  I'm not sure what to do about it.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? Starting to worry.

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? When I shower, clean, and bake. I made the mistake of making a pie crust with my rings on, and it took way too long to get the butter/flour mixture out of my rings.
Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? Nope. My e-ring is kind of scratched, but it looked brand new after I got it dipped before the wedding.
How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? Not worried :-)

If it's white gold, you should be able to just get it re-dipped and it'll look like brand new!

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? When I go to bed, shower, wash my hands, put lotion on, sometimes cooking.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? I am paranoid a little.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? Who knows lol.

  • I take my rings off before I go to bed, before I do any serious cleaning/washing dishes, or if I'm doing something really dirty (weeding the garden, baking, dividing hamburger etc)

I'm not paranoid about it at all. It's got a few little surface scratches, but no serious dings. I plan to wear it forever, so these things are going to happen.

I worried about my engagement ring for maybe 3 weeks, wedding band, not at all.

  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take my e-ring off when I wash my face (my face wash is hard to get off the diamond and makes it look cloudy/dirty), when I wash my hair, and when I need to use my hands when cooking/baking. But I leave my wedding ring on always. It's a plain white gold band, I'm not worried about it at all.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? Meh. I'm not worried about the bands at all, I'll just get them re-dipped when they start showing wear. But I do occasionally worry about the diamond- I know they are super strong, but I have heard of them chipping before if you hit them hard at just the right angle... and I'm kinda clumsy. ;)

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? I'll probably always worry a little about the diamond cuz I'm paranoid like that. Lol.
  • I wasn't taking it off except to swim but I am having major problems with my left wrist/hand so I take it off at home and to sleep sometimes b.c. my wrist/hand is so uncomfortable.  I am not paranoid about it getting scratched. I figure wearing it is what it is for. I am paranoid abou tlosing it b.c. i did lose a birthstone necklace my husband (then bf) got me for our 6 month anniversary (we had just moved in and my mom was sick and I was busy with work and wedding planning.) I still hope it will show up!
  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when? I take it off every night. I think I may be allergic to whatever they use to solder rings. I didn't have any problems when it was just my e-ring, but now that my bands are soldered to it, if I leave it on for more than a day straight, my finger gets all red and my skin starts to get dry and flaky around it. My mom had the same problem with her wedding ring and e-ring being soldered together.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc? No, I know it's bound to happen and they typically redip it at every inspection. That usually takes care of any scratches or anything.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it? ...
  • Do you take off your ring(s)? If so, when?

I take them off when applying lotion, doing some major cleaning or cooking (or when im washing glasses so i dont scratch the glasses) but thats about it.

Are you paranoid about it getting scratched/nicked/etc?

I was when i first got engaged but not anymoer.

How long do you think it will be til you're not so worried about it?

Haven't been for over a year and a half so it wont start again.
